A fun fact - Karl Marx wrote about how the British capitalists in the 1800s were using Irish immigrants as scapegoats in order to deflect the attention of the British working class.

150 years later it seems little has changed except the target of scapegoating.

It's scare how closely the stereotypes against Muslims today match the ones against the Irish and Italians in the US ~120 years ago.

I agree to a great extent. Scapegoating has been a social media fashion. However we cannot argue the behavior of Muslims is a major source of the problem.

Possibly it is, I don't know the situation well, the only large immigrant group in Poland are Ukrainians (who are culturally close and assimilate quickly)

No. A lot of them commit crimes and don't intergrate. As a result they face hate crimes, including murder.

Which is why I find East European racists are a bit naive when they try to join the bandwagon of hating on non-Europeans.

They won't get accepted.

Irish immigration to the US stopped by the time of ww1 and as late as 1960, JFK needed to explain to voters that he won't be taking orders from the Pope, Al Smith lost the 1928 elections due to anti Catholic bigotry.

The stream of Muslim immigration to UK and the rest of Europe is continuous, there isn't much time to assimilate and the group that arrives in largest numbers (young men) also commits the most crimes everywhere.
