The US produces roughly two-thirds of the petroleum it consumes domestically. Of the crude oil it imports, nearly 62% comes from Canada.

Now let's look at US natural gas.
The US actually produces considerably more natural gas than it consumes domestically. It still imports a relatively small amount, but almost all of those imports come from Canada.

The small amount it imports comes overwhelmingly from one country: Canada, which supplied approximately 99.7% of US natural-gas imports in 2025.
