Snakes are a hard no for me. Everything else I can deal with.

Made easily a hundred trips to Florida. Never once to Orlando.

Went to Orlando in my teens. Destination: Disneyland, Epcot Centre & Universal Studios. As a grown-up, I would love to revisit them, but also add Miami to my itinerary, cause that seems like one of the most grown-up places on the East Coast. Conditioned not to encounter lizards and snakes. Crocs and gators are fine as long as they are at a distance. Although I think these creatures don't travel to the downtown area, or do they?

On a side note: I hope to see the Jacksonville Jaguars make it to the Super Bowl someday.

They are there for the UNGA meet. The only forum where they can put up their case, despite it being largely inconsequential.

Oh so you mean if the enemy also had aircraft carriers, the outcome would have been different.

Which completely negates you point that A/Cs are white elephants. It would be a white elephant if:

1) It doesn't bring any value to the owner.
2) It is itself a sitting target that is a liability.

Neither of which is true.

The USN has no peers precisely because we have Carrier Battle Groups and others don't.

Far from being white elephants, these CBGs are USA's "flaming sword of vengeance". The envy of lesser nations.

In the near future hypersonic weapons like the Russian Zircon and anti-ship ballistic missiles like the Chinese DF-21 and DF-26 will send aircraft carriers to the trash bin of history.

Add to that AI and missile seekers become smarter and large slow moving aircraft carriers have no place in the wars of the future.
