Vietnam surpasses Indonesia on per-person GDP- Is Thailand next?

Malaysian Chinese make up nearly a quarter of the total population and control about 70% of the economy.
That's definitely a big factor for its rather high GDP per capita in SEA. Chinese in Malaysia are relatively free to create business not facing that many restrictions as in some other SEA countries.

Chinese predominant region in Malaysia, no difference from streets in China, everyone speaks Mandarin Chinese

Chinese Malaysian girl street interviews strangers about China

Very true, Almost all Chinese Malaysians go to Chinese schools for education.

Chinese schools in Malaysia. "Malaysia is where the Chinese culture is being preserved the best besides mainland China"

LOl..See, whatever suits the narrative.
Think that way, if Singapore was not split up with Malaysia then the rich oil sheiks of Singapore today would have the same GDP per capita with Malaysia.
Or Thailand, it would never catch up to rich countries because the Thai culture is very much borrowed from India. Vietnam culture is borrowed much from China.
