No wonder Malaysia is now the richest country after SG and Brunei that is because of oil and gas in SEA. Both Vietnam and Indonesia had expelled ethnic Chinese in large numbers in the past decades and also has many restrictions, that's one reason why they are behind Malaysia. Thai culture is too much woven with laid back Buddhism, so I agree with Viet Thailand is eventually going to fall back and will be surpassed by Vietnam in the near future. No country in SEA has majority Indian population or dominant Indian culture. Only India itself has predominately Indian population, maybe also Mauritius, Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago.

Russians and Norwegians might be similar in race, how much similarity I am not sure too, but their political systems and cultures are very different. Plus, Norway has decades if not a century of head start in developing market economy.
