The US president also claims Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthis have called his administration and indicated they did not want the United States to become directly involved in the conflict there.

The Houthis have imposed a blockade on Saudi shipping in the Red Sea, and this week wrested control of the Bab el-Mandeb Strait from Yemen’s Saudi-backed government.

“They would much prefer not having us involved, and they’re letting most ships go through. There’s just one country that they’re not too happy with, and we’ll get that straightened out,” Trump says.

Never know when to believe if he’s having imaginary conversations or not with people or groups but sounds like trump can’t handle multiple real time conflicts at one time what’s weirder is seems like he’s totally fine with the Houthis controlling the straits and what’s weirder it seems like he might try to convince the Saudis to leave them alone so he can concentrate on Iran and the midterms

Just like al Sauds have their own interests in Iran independent of the US, the US also has its own interests in Yemen independent of the al Sauds. The Americans are already stretched thin. As long as the Houthis let American and Israeli ships pass, why should they risk American lives for the al Sauds, who themselves have top of the line American and European weapons and treaty allies like Pakistan and Turkiye with strong militaries ? America will not go beyond providing technical help and advice unless the Houthis directly attack them or Israel.
