Yemen Civil War News and Discussion.. an evolving situation

All you said was your opinion without any facts. Meh.
No I stated that nationalism, more specifically through the creation of nation states, which by the way no sane person would argue it didnt happen, caused and increase and perpetual state of instability through wars and land disputes between Arab states, and non Arab states like Iran. Otherwise if you're going to base your comments on the mere fact that wars have taken place in the middle east, then Europe would be a stronger and more "typical" example of somewhere unstable due to fighting, especially before the age of nation states became a thing, ironically.

Regardless, I'm not going to prove to you the in and outs of nationalism and all the wars that have happened as a result between Arabs. You can do that yourself or be left arguing from ignorance. The history books are all there for you to go and read.

So what is the connection of that history with the Houthis control in Yemen now?

Getting a lot of info on the web that a war with Yemen and Iran is now inevitable.

Any views?
Iran will go to great lengths to avoid a costly direct war and the US similarly has no appetite for a serious confrontation with Iran

So I think any direct war with Iran and the USA (or Israel) is very unlikely

Things on edge is quite typical in that region.
So it seems you can go off topic, but if anyone responds then they are trapped into being questioned as to being off topic.

And to answer your question is we have a repeat of the same ideology which created those nation states are again causing trouble in the Middle East stopping anyone trying to have any leverage on Israel, namely the Yemenis and Iranians. Thereby allowing injustice and destabilising to continue.

Not at all. Things on edge is nothing out of the ordinary for that region. So as @Persian Gulf said above it is not likely to cause a wider war.

And I was giving a reason for it, which you clearly didn't like nor was able to refute. And the reason is external, so not really oridinary or indegenous to that region. Also I didnt make any comment on the liklihood of a war with Iran, so I don't know why you're bringing another member in who wasn't even speaking about what we were.

This is a somewhat predictable response to the US-UK airstrikes against Yemen of the past few days

Yes but the difference is that Saudis are Sunnis while Houthis are Zaydi Shia.

I would rather trust Saudi Arabia than the Houthis.

Thank you for showing once again why Muslims will be fighting each other for centuries while the rest of the world moves on to the Moon, Mars and beyond.

It's all hot air because the systems they have can't penetrate US defences. Also, why announce it? Just do it when theyre ready. So it's all for show, sadly. The thing is while I may agree that the US may not want a war, they have the ability for it, and Iran it seems has neither the ability nor desire, so the edge which the US has makes me think that Iran is ripe for attack and defeat. Might need a change in president for that, though.

External? Houthis are disrupting international shipping routes by choice.

They are putting leverage against what is happening in Gaza, which is no different in desired outcomes to when western nations put sanctions on other nations. Israel is external, as are the Americans who are stopping them, and both are acting on choices, so I'm not getting your point.

So it is by their own strategy that the Houthis are doing that.
