Yemen Civil War News and Discussion.. an evolving situation

F-22 is a shameless lying piece of shit with not a shred of honor.

He has been WRONG ABOUT EVERYTHING FOR A DECADE HERE. All these people are smoking shit up their asses and they LIE about everything and are WRONG EVERY TIME. EVERY SINGLE TIME. Yet they come back with their idiotic cheerleading each time acting like nothing happened.

I destroyed you in the last debate we had a couple months ago. You were so embarrassed you had to resort to personal attacks because you had no counterpoints to make.

You lose

You didn’t destroy anyone. You were made a fool and all of your assertions have been discredited and destroyed.

I called you out for the facetious lying clown that you are and that is truer than ever.

OMG the U.S has lost ANOTHER F18

I heard of the crash and thought they just meant the one last week

But NOOOOO, they lost yet another F18

No one wonder the U.S wants to cut and run

The Houthis are the ones who caved to the US. They wouldn’t have accepted a deal if they thought they could withstand US attacks over the medium term.

They needed the pressure to be released. The US controlled escalation dominance, not the Houthis. A handful of ballistic missile attacks was never going to deter the US.

You were so embarrassed you tucked tail and ran. Personal attacks are what people use to cope when they’ve been defeated in debate.

Trump said he would get the Houthis to end their blockade.

The Houthis will continue to blockade the Red Sea after the Us Navy flees from the scene.

Who won again?

The whole point of attacking Yemen because the the Zionists own you

You lost at least 3 jets, fired off billions worth of missiles and wasted billions more and now your leaving, whilst the Houthis will continue to target Israel

Trump is a idiot but I think he understands wasting billions to protect Israel is stupid for America

As a result Israel wasn't even informed of this announcement and now they have a new up their azz and are using their Zionists toads to pull the U.S back

Please keep the discussion civil.

The Houthi have demonstrated tremendous anti-shipping capability in the region. The US Navy have also demonstrated the capability to fight and survive in the high threat anti-shipping environment of the Red Sea. It is not easy to intercept volley after volley of drones and missiles but the US Navy is thus far the only force that stands apart from others in this matter. Russian Navy was also facing a similar situation in the Black Sea and suffered heavy losses there.

vs.

The Houthi have reportedly agreed with the US to dial down their anti-shipping activity in the region, this is but a shift in their attitude in 2 months while facing American strikes.

The Houthi can attack Israel but unable to deter it. The Houthi struck Ben Gurion Airport and in response the Israel has struck Al-Hudaydah Port, Bajil Cement Factory east of Al-Hudaydah, and turned Sanaa International Airport into a pile of rubble. The Houthi might respond to Israel in view of these attacks but Israel has also vowed heavy response to the Houthi and possibly more in return. Meanwhile the Israel occupation of Gaza is in full swing and bombed back to the stone age. Therefore, I am not sure what some members see in these affairs to celebrate.

If the US agrees not to intercept Houthi missiles towards Israel and lets the two sides fight it out, is that not a win for Houthis?

No one disputes Israel's superior firepower but, if the Houthis need to face only Israel, not Israel + US, then that's a win for them.

The U.S. president appears to be heeding Saudi wishes ahead of a visit to Riyadh, with a potential eye on negotiations with Iran as well.

Middle East Eye reports that Saudi Arabia pressured the Trump administration to cease bombing Yemen in advance of his planned trip to the Kingdom next week because such raids would be an embarrassment for him and his host. U.S. President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he was convinced that the Houthis were sincere in their new pledge to cease targeting shipping in the Red Sea.

The subtext here is that people in the region believe the U.S. is bombing an Arab country on behalf of Israeli shipping in the Red Sea and to protect Israel from repercussions for its Gaza genocide. Attacking the Houthis, who are not otherwise popular, on these grounds while Trump is in Riyadh would make it look like Saudi Arabia is also running interference for the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The Houthi strategy of hitting out at Israeli interests has helped rally the people around them and lends them some regional popularity.

MEE says that the Saudis have requested that Trump not bring up normalization with Israel on this trip, since Riyadh is determined not to recognize Israel until there is a firm prospect of a Palestinian state. Unlike the UAE and Bahrain, which did recognize Israel, Saudi Arabia has a fairly large population of citizens, most of whom would be extremely upset to see their king reward the Israelis for their Gaza atrocities by establishing diplomatic relations.

The Houthis do not appear to have made any pledge to cease targeting Israel with missiles, and the Israeli government was reportedly blindsided by the Trump move. Trump kept them out of the loop, much to their dismay. On Tuesday, Israel itself bombed Sanaa in retaliation for the Houthi missile attack Sunday on Ben Gurion Airport.

Oman’s foreign minister, Badr Albusaidi, confirmed the White House announcement of the cessation of hostilities. Oman has been a go-to mediator for conflicts in the region, and is helping negotiate a Trump deal with Iran.

A senior Houthi official, Politburo member Muhammad Ali al-Houthi, expressed cautious optimism, saying that the American pledge to halt bombing the small country on the southwest edge of the Arabian Peninsula would be “field tested.”

Both the Biden administration and the Trump administration have bombed Yemen in reaction to the Houthi targeting of Red Sea shipping and attacks on Israel in sympathy with the people of Gaza, against whom Israel has conducted serial atrocities. Trump alone has ordered 800 bombing raids on the desperately poor country. Yemen is the only Arab country to have reacted against the Israeli genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. Its methods, however, have involved war crimes, since it has attacked civilian container ships, most of them not actually connected to Israel, and has attacked civilian targets in Israel—or has been unable to control its missiles, endangering civilian life—which is a war crime.

Former National Security adviser to the Iranian parliament, Heshmetollah Felahat, said Tuesday that the cessation of U.S. bombing of Yemen was connected to U.S.-Iran negotiations and was a way for Trump to block attempts of Netanyahu to draw the U.S. into war with Iran. He said that the chances of successful U.S.-Iran negotiations just went up.

Everybody wants to take credit for the ceasefire established between the US and Yemenis. The real proponent for this ceasefire was the Pentagon. The rank-and-file of the US military saw the war against Yemen as unwinnable and unnecessary as well - as it takes resources away from other theaters of operations, especially in the Pacific.

The Yemenis themselves, as Trump pointed out, remained resolute and were launching missiles and drones at the US navy in an unprecedented pace. They were also not backing down from their goal of not stopping attacking "Israel" until it stops the genocide it is committing in Gaza and in Palestine in general.

So it was the combination of those factors that compelled Trump to make ceasefire with the Yemenis with the mediation of Oman.
