Dedicated armed helicopters have a more powerful strike capability and a more focused range of weapons. However, it is operated by specialized Army Air Corps units, and other ground forces that require its support require a more complex command process.
The rich variety of UCAVs and robotic dogs actually decentralizes the weapon types. They are carried and operated directly by ground forces and can be called upon at any time without having to cross any chain of command.
For example:
A ground patrol unit discovers a secret terrorist stronghold. Or, a team of terrorists attacks a certain point and a ground force goes to the rescue. (This is the most common scenario in the war on terror.)
1. They call their headquarters and request the Army Air Corps to send helicopter gunships to provide air support.
2, They directly use their carry-on UCAV/FPV and robot dogs to strike directly at the stronghold.
Which of these two ways is better?
