The command ship of the Chinese aircraft carrier strike group is designated dynamically based on mission requirements, rather than being a fixed attribute.
 
In most photos from Chinese state media, Chinese warships appear very small. Even aircraft carriers look small in their pictures.

However, this photo is an exception. I didn't expect it to be so big......

Power Compartments of 004 and Ford-class:

  1. The reactor compartment of 004 is akin to the nuclear island section of a nuclear power plant. It is where the reactor shielding box and other nuclear equipment are installed and housed. This constitutes secondary shielding. (Figures 1 and 2)
  2. The reactor shielding box inside the 004 reactor compartment is where the reactor pressure vessel and steam generators are installed and housed (integrated reactor with built-in steam generators).   3. The engine compartment section within the 004 power compartment is similar to the conventional island section of a nuclear power plant.   5. The so-called reactor compartment of the Ford-class only houses the reactor pressure vessel and steam generators. Their steam generators are distributed externally within the shielding box in a scattered configuration. (Figures 4, 5, and 6)

Other nuclear equipment in the Ford-class is installed and housed together with conventional mechanical power equipment, such as steam turbines and turbo-generator sets, within the power compartment. This scattered and disorganized arrangement often leads to nuclear leakage incidents, resulting in poor safety and reliability.   7. The power compartment structures of 004 and the Ford-class are entirely different. They are fundamentally products of different eras.
 
Four carriers is far insufficient for a country the size of China. In order to establish global prestige, China would need at least 8 carriers.
