Iranian Air Defence Systems | News and Discussions

Arman was so by extension Bavar was. But I don’t believe more than 1 battalion Bavar was produced as it was still in prototype testing stage.
That we saw in videos tessting both Sayyad 4A and Sayyad 4B missile on same platform.
So far two system been produced along with three different TELERS. These system were never put into combat deployment. I dont see any possibility for partial deployment.

For some reason i love Arman over Khordad 15.

But iran lacks quick response SAMs, Iran should have at least 200 Majeed and 50+ Zubin in deployment, very must decentralize and passive detection.

For fighter jets long range ADs are required and Ian don't have Air force to protect em

That’s not true, the Bavar-373 design had its own radar for this very reason in case the main radar was hit. But again 1 battalion isn’t going to do anything and will be venerable without systems to protect it from drones or PGMs.

But iran lacks quick response SAMs

Not true Iran on paper had Dey, Tabas, 3 Khordad, Mehran SAMs that were self sufficient medium range. The question is how many were actually built?

, Iran should have at least 200 Majeed and 50+ Zubin in deployment, very must decentralize and passive detection.

200 Majeed is nothing, 2000 might be something. majeed range was <10KM

50 Zubin is nothing 200 Zubin is something. And the short range of Zubin means it’s a last resort system and still would need medium and long range rings to repel most of the attacks.

You forget Iran is 4x the size of Iraq and 2x the size of Texas. if you combined Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria. iran is still bigger.

Thus Iran needed hundreds of systems of various specialized ranges (short medium long) to build a dense of network to withstand Israel and America. And even then like you said, they would need interceptors to take the pressure of the air defense forces to not crack under the pressure of repelling 200+ fighter jets every day.

Not something you can do on a 25B military budget.

What’s actually stopping Iran from developing proper AD systems?

assume that they are giving the system to iran, what will they do with it after detecting stealthy target???
They don’t have any missiles to hit stealthy targets
Plus that system cost is no less than 100M$
It wont survive a night in this scenario

What’s actually stopping Iran from developing proper AD systems?

Money and Time.

AD systems take time to make and are very expensive. Iran’s economy has been in shambles for decades.

Something the cheerleader squad here failed to realize is staying under sanctions means you don’t have enough money to build a strong military AND keep your state running.

Add in the fact that it appears corruption of funds to the military was also happening and you get the current results
