Pakistan Air Force | News & Discussions

Sir discussed this in other thread we are extremely vulnerable to market shock alongside Bangladesh and South Korea.

CAA has advised intl carriers to bring extra fuel as there is shortage nationally.

Not just that - our food security is tied to fuel security and market stability. Right now we can smell the smoke, a few more days and we will all feel the heat.
We are taking precautionary measures , nothing wrong with it , situation is not as bad as it's being perceived.

@AeronautIR @side-winder @Panzerkiel Will PAF/PA aviation scale down their flying hours if Oil disruptions gets more severe or if fuel price in Pakistan reaches 500-600 Rs per liter?
It might not affect Jet fuel as much, plus there is always the ability to store stocks in tanks at the refinery end, supplier end and user end.

Jet fuel is mostly Kerosene types......meaning there is still chance that it will be more readily available than say HSD or Petrol.

Hopefully, Saudis can keep supplying via Red Sea and UAE via Fujairah. Our own oil production can also meet the demand of armed forces at least.

LNG is a different thing, forget about receiving new LNG from GCC for the next many months.......and from Malaysia/Australia it is being scooped up by Japan/China.

Tucano effective against drones. Why not armed K-8s?

I agree - both the Mushshak and K8 can be armed to fly and hunt down drones. We have seen this adaptations in Ukraine, though whether PAF has that foresight to do the same is unknown.

Seeing JF17Cs "hunt" for drones is very sad to see !!!

So many variables here. There is a chance we have K-8 in this role already, PAF has traditionally used every aircraft it can during big wars.

Aircraft on ADA is on ADA, whatever type it is. We cannot keep K-8 on ADA for obvious reasons

Not about foresight of PAF. 😅 multiple other issues. I first flew K-8 with gun pod in 2007. There were many hurdles like engine surge/stall due smoke injection etc. Example of Ukraine and Super Tucano can't be applied for our trainers due technical complications. We will need a lot of money to overcome those hurdles. It is more cost-effective to employ C-UAS systems other than SMK, K-8 or T-37.
Fighters are not feasible at all but the ADA scramble is a last resort.

@hasssanali8998 @Ali_Baba as you were discussing F-35 damage and RTB. Our own F-16 faced a similar scenario and was able to RTB.

just remember one thing with SMK,

it has a 130kt cruise speed, so it isnt really going to be effective unless tasked in the same area where a drone has just popped up. Its more of a by chance solution i feel like.

IMO, some light/fast helicopters with door gunners would do a good job, but really, something fast is needed.

Most likely it was already on CAP when that drone came in. No big deal.
