President Trump's rule only ends when he is Impeached. And that's a remote possibility from the upcoming midterm elections. I don't believe the guy can be the 'lame duck' as people say. He has been using Executive Powers all the time and when those get challenged by the Courts, he finds ways around them using more such powers. Most likely planes and helis were imoperable/damged enough not fly due to recieving AAA bullets or mampads and then they burn/target them to avoid into getting into enemy hands/PR saving.

If the report turns out to be true of US blowing up two C130s, the operation in material terms cant be really be considered much of a success. Thats several millions of loss in equipment. To save one crew member.

But for the US and for Trump specifically, the symbolism and propaganda victory of this operation makes up for those material losses.

Operational success is measured by objective achievement, not by cost incurred.

He will never be fully impeached. It’s impossible with the way the checks and balances is set up. Republicans will never go for it.

Barring a massive turnaround in this war (ie its immediate end), republicans will lose control of Congress and maybe even the senate in a clean sweep at this rate.

Depending on how damaging the rest of Trumps term goes, they will lose the presidency as well.

Then we will get 8 years of democrat president trying to do damage control. Then people will be pissed off at Dems for the decaying rate of the empire and bring back republicans who will promise to fix everything. This whole cycle then rinses and repeats forever.

Yes, they “burned” a lot of cards on this operation. While Iran would have loved to have the propaganda value of having 2 soldiers, it’s better for Iran to learn these ground war lessons now then on a much more critical operation.

EXACTLY, a lot of operational intelligence gained here. Also a lot of preexisting intelligence assessments validated.
