Pakistan has very recently downed advanced Rafale fighter jets in a real-life combat scenario. Given this operational track record, the J-10C can certainly hold its own against Eurofighter Typhoons. In a one on one engagement, the J-10C is fully capable of matching high-end 4th and 4.5 generation Western fighters.

Furthermore, the PAF has significantly enhanced its operational doctrine by integrating sophisticated network centric warfare capabilities.

Chinese fighters now exceed European fighter capabilities.

Well, although how reliable SCMP is is arguable, the point as many said, is that SCMP like many other western media outlets (I.e.: military watch) simply cites their information source from China official CCTV, which reports the fact (9:0) happened almost 2 years ago. Chinese official media like Xinhua or CCTV usually are conservative. The facts that CCTV reports J10CP down IAF rafales only 1 year later & J10CP scores 9:0 against EF2000 only 2 years later shows CCTV does not want to be eye catching, and they are serious to report a fact.

Thus, you can question SCMP reliability on its reporting based on SCMP own source, but no doubt SCMP will not purposely translate a CCTV news report in Chinese to English falsely to just exaggerate the content.

That is the nature of millatary news, you can never be sure, but you can only sense check it, and this particular case it makes perfect sense if you connect the dots. Here are the dots:
1. 2014: European Common Radar System tech demonstrator debuted but not funded.
2. 2016: Flew for the first time amid funding being made available via the Kuwait deal.
3. 2017: Further development subsidised by the Qatar deal.
4. 2021-2022: IOC on mk-0 as first deliveries began to Kuwait and Qatar.
5. 2022: modern Chinese AESA exported for the first time.
6. 2024: Alleged engagements in BVR regime take place during Zilzal.
7. 2025: Qatar ofloads Typhoons in second hand deal with Turkey.
8. All this time in Europe: Spain and Germany hold-off for more advance GaN based mk-1, UK never orders mk-0 and holds off waiting for mk-2.

Conclusion: Somewhere in the last 2 or 3 years it became abduntantly clear to the world (not just the US), how far ahead Chinese tech was and they took observable steps to say the same.

The fundamental logic of modern military weapon design precludes any modern weapon from operating entirely in isolation from its support systems. These support systems serve simultaneously as force multipliers for the weapon platforms themselves and as constraints upon their capabilities.

Therefore, the act of evaluating a weapon platform in isolation—detached from its support system—is, in reality, quite foolish.

many not all, and Rafale is basically stand-off striker and CAS jet with secondary air superiority capability, its T/W, lift to drag ratios (with air to air payload) is lower than that of Typhoon and its also has lower kinematic performance compare to Typhoon, So Typhoon is more intended for air superiority mission than Rafale, you has to remember Typhoon is inspired by F-15 specification which is best air superiority jet in the world
