Balochistan Terrorism Watch

The situation can be changed by economic means easily if the army decreases it budget by 30% and Punjab stops gobbling up the share of the other provinces. The roots of Bengal separation were linked to the Urdu-Bengali controversy and the lop-sided economic policies of Ayub Khan.

The current situation in Hanna, Orak near Quetta Cantt is a step by step plan to capture the fertile orchards and water resources by the property dealers.

In a dangerous world we need to EXPAND our budget for the army, not decrease it

At the same time, all out taxes come from Karachi and Punjab

What you want is for the country to pay for it's most useless sections, who are forever backwards and savage

The entire world is moving forward and these people still live like cavemen

Chaghi got ransacked today, the whole friggin town.

Balochistan might as well be a foreign country at this point for us.

At this point it seem like worse situation than Afghan border areas. It's like even decision makers have given up the hope of peace and accepted the status quo , but is it acceptable for a sovereign nation? That too a nuclear hard state ?

I think this violence is being "allowed" so as to create the public demand for a harsh Op. Reminds me of Swat operation. Trouble is that military ops are not a solution to the problems plaguing KP and Baluchistan. Political problems, foreign policy, lack of development. and lack of effective law enforcement are the real issues.

The economy of Pakistan cannot sustain the triple burdens of the Interest, Army and Punjab on its neck any more. The weight has been steadily increasing since the last seventy years and is simply not sustainable any more. It is pure arithmetic, not my opinion. The only way to increase the Army budget is to have a European Union like economic agreement with Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Indonesia and Malaysia. Imran Khan worked on this project but did not have the guts to continue it when Saudi Arabia admonished him. However, sadly, the present rulers may also not have the guts for this as a bigger role calls for bigger wars.

Resolution in EU parliament threatening cancellation of GSP+ status. I don't see any major operation happening, just keep tolerating these attacks and mitti paao.

Our bombing in Afghanistan has made IEA/TTA popular among Afghans. Now, how would you meet/face the same guys to curb TTP, etc?
BTW, IEA/TTA 's narrative that ISKP is active in Pak has gained strength.

The Afghans were ALWAYS our enemies

Trusting the snakes was the biggest mistake

Not punishing them harder and more ruthlessly was our own fault

Bomb Afghanistan harder

It's a simple equation, if for every terrorist attack on Pakistan, Afghanistan loses major targets like their government buildings, barracks etc

Then you are imposing a cost upon the Afghans

We have locked millions of Afghans out, now finish imposing a cost by conducting a census and kicking out millions more

It is rumored that one among the recent chiefs had 'ceded' large part of Balochistan as 'no-go areas', obviously given the lack of resources to clear them completely, but the next one tried to reverse course and tried to restore order through hard power. Perhaps the former was not wrong, it is too big of a resource blackhole to be filled....

I said this here before, but i'll replug it. A major root of this has to do with the political setup being centred around a sardar system which is inherently a biased patronage system. They embezzle state funds channeled to them with no oversight, justice is not dispensed as per law but instead by decision of the 'jirga' which will obviously be biased.
On the other hand, the state is forced to support this system as a counterweight against the insurgency. But at the same time, the social problems arising in the areas which is leading people to join these movements are driven by these sardars. So now you have a vicious cycle, which is continuing to unfold as we speak.
Mengal Shafiq himself is a terrorist commander, he's on the Sindh Police's 'red book' for notorious terrorists, yet all is forgiven since he has decided to join the state (for now until he probably changes allegiances if he senses the opportunity).
