The Iranian attack on the merchant vessels was an attempt to keep control of the Strait beyond the conflict for its own economic and political gain. I am on record - many times - saying Trump should never have launched this war. It is a huge mistake. He is an utter idiot for doing so.
Equally, I abhor war, because I know how horrible it is, having seen it up close and personal.
I am also mature enough to realize that once war starts, then it is very dirty, messy and destructive. War is war. Both sides fight it as best as they can, no matter who started it.

Unlikely. BUT Iran must prepare for this possibility nevertheless. Firstly, it would be folly to disregard this possibility. Secondly, a repulsion of a ground attack seems to remain Iran's best option for some sort of military victory (by causing significant casualties to the invaders).
As this status quo continues, if Iran is prepared to absorb the massive hits it is taking, it actually does become more likely that some ground action will be needed from US/Arab nations to try and force matters.

Thing is one cant discount a land invasion, trump is senile and tripping on power. To try and claim victory he might go to great lengths, he doesnt care for the death of US soldiers its more an image thing for him. A land invasion will be much worse for the US and trump.
