They will not just pack up and leave. That will certainly end the petro dollar. They will throw everything and the kitchen sink at this. I don't even rule out nuclear bombs.

Different terrain, different time. Besides, last time I checked, both Afghanistan and Vietnam were invaded by the US and both wars lasted some 20 years. It wasn't a quick liberation.

Plus, occupying mainland Iran and our islands are completely different.
