This is a little unfair. Ukraine has access to the best of western technology. I agree Iran has been in a general slumber after Ahmadinejad. Raisi's short time was an aberration.

Everyone knew Iran had a nuclear program prior to 2003, it was the worst kept secret in the world. I remember visiting Iran then and my grandpa telling me about the military having facilities in the mountains. This was 25 years ago.

The Iranian nuclear program was built to quickly build a bomb if Saddam went nuclear. Which was predicted to happen by 1998.

If Iran went nuclear from 2017-2024, I don't think anyone could stop it.

US: Trump 1.0 wasn't fixated into Iran as a bargaining chip to counter China, and Biden didn't have the gut to attack Iran.

Russia: They wouldn't oppose it at all.

China: We can't even stop NK from went nuclear, let alone Iran.

UK & France: Their existence on this issue was even more irrelevant.

We never truly understand why Iran didn't go nuclear in the last decade with full of window of opportunities.

We never truly understand why Iran didn't go nuclear in the last decade with full of window of opportunities.

Khamenai. The nuclear program was really just a hedge against Saddam. Once he fell there was not a need for a nuclear weapons program.

Also Iran assumed that U.S. could never sanction Iranian oil or put true economic pressure on Iran because the west was too dependent on Mideast oil. They couldn’t foresee fracking technology.

As I said multiple times, Iran needed a leader like Mao or Khomeini that truly wanted to stand up to Western imperialism and instead got a Gorbachev whose heart really wasn’t in conflict or fighting kinetic wars.

As I said, Iran was its own worst enemy with its self sabotage. Until Iran gets a true leader in power (Mojtaba is not that leader) then Iran can never be truly great. You need the type of leader that rebuilds the system and carries respect and admiration.

Iran has a 500kg anti ship missile called the Ra’ad based on the silkworm from Soviet days. Like I said most Iranian CMs are based on Chinese or Soviet Union stuff from decades ago.

They were covered plenty because they were given to Houthi’s and used against Red Sea shipping. Despite sometimes firing 10 or 20 CMs at a time, directly at US warships they just get shot down by the U.S. navy who had ample time to react to these sub sonic threats.

I tried to tell people here that Iranian CMs were old and not lethal against a first tier navy like the U.S. I suggested Iran needed an entire overhaul with new families introduced including supersonic CMs . But the copium on this board was so bad that users would say that Houthi’s got the “downgraded” stuff and Iran kept the “good elite missiles” for itself for war time and would suprise the U.S.

Looks like we know who was right in the end.

Tens of thousands CMs produced by Iran and there is just no record of their use during brief but intense periods of combat?
