Military retired officers getting civilians jobs

not being insensitive but they are rewarded fpr their service they get all the perks and privileges for losing their body parts! dha plots etc
To be fair war-wounded officers and soldiers are looked after via AWT and Fauji foundation, AWT and Fauji offer a lot of jobs to ex-forces and rightly so, you mentioned DHA this is a valid point - DHA Homes have dedicated plots for both family of Shaeed's and those who leave early due to injury and also long service. These are mainly 5 Marla Homes on Phase III on the outskirts of Rawalpindi.

I am all for supporting our war-wounded, and there are certain roles that only ex-forces can work well in, such as Security. That said there is a increasing creep into civilian jobs in the private sector that wish to recruit retired officers be they junior (Captain) or Senior.

This practice directly discriminates against suitably qualified civilian candidates and this is a point of contention. Most of the cream jobs in the private sector like to recruit ex-forces especially senior officers for the simple reason that they are seen as having contacts and connections to facilitate smooth "business operations".

You can see why some people see this negatively, I for one have members of my family who were injured in the line of duty and disabled or medically discharged, most of them just ended up using their contacts and starting some business, but not everyone is that fortunate or has enough means to do so, in that case these men and women who have served the country should be given some job security once they return to the civilian workforce.

But the young and highly qualified civilian workforce should also be given an equal opportunity to apply for posts. The costs of MBAs has increased exponentially in Pakistan, what incentive does someone from a working middle-class family have to invest in an MBA if they don't see any prospects of being recruited by a business where they can grow professionally.

I personally know people who have double masters and are working at Contact Centers for 65,000 PKR... LOL

Aren't Plots rare for anyone below Brigadier?

U misunderstood then. I’m not defending an allocation to faujis specifically. I’m not saying that these jobs should be reserved for them and civilians be turned away…
…this would be equally as wrong as giving these jobs strictly to civilians and turning away veterans(which is kind of what I’m saying)…

But to be very specific…what I am saying is any job can be done by anyone who is qualified for it(as in merit based)…it’s fine if they happen to be veterans…or civilians…so long the job is properly “earned”(whether through the right education or through experience or both). I’ll paste below what I originally said for u to read again(perhaps u will understand it better this time).

“There’s nothing wrong with hiring veterans…provided that they are competent and not just being handed the job under any preferential treatment.“
Integration in the job is the main aspect here, where an experienced veteran holds an edge apart from other multi-dimensional factors of admin, HR, command/control, communications, logistics etc which he has been handling and then the background check which is done through particulars in pension book. For specific skills, civilians can have the edge and that is where linkedin comes in.

All fair but then the Military mustn't claim they just take 6% of the Budget. They should acknowledge this, be open and carry on.
That figure probably comes from paying back taxes (incl all military projects) which millions of Pakistanis forget to return.

The military workforce is also from salary class. Nonetheless, the military projects take a lot of subsidies and favorable perks. Like, the Punjab Govt gave thousands of acres of land to SIFC, gas subsidies to military installations and fauji foundations etc.

Just last year, not since 76 years.

And then the military gives back, been paying taxes since 76 years or so which Pakistanis haven't. Now with new projects undertaken by military that tax bracket has enhanced multifold.

I don't have data.

Doesn't matter. Accept it that military has been the tax payer since 76 years which majority of Pakistanis have not and move on. That 6% figure doesn't come out of thin air.
@M. Sarmad Man can you help? I wish @Norwegian was here. I think all Pakistanis pay indirect taxes. The majority of Pakistan pays taxes on fuel, electricity, water and gas.

In return, they get no perks just some free medical, school and garbage collection? compared to the military?

Lastly, what other indirect GDP allocation belongs to the military like military-related debts and payments etc?
