Long Amtrak Train Trip Starting 26 August!

The Zephyr and the Starlight are the highlights trains of this entire mad trip! I should have just flown to Chicago and taken those two trains.
Next time consider transferring in D.C. to The Cardinal. Goes through West Virginia on the way to Chicago. Very scenic.

You have gone this far - you might aswell finish the whole trip on train and put it down as a lifetime achievement!
Man!! Don't tempt me! But it is possible with the 5 segments still left! Maybe I should take The Canadian from Vancouver to Toronto and then go south to America then use my Amtrak Rail Pass segments to go home.... Hmmmmm

Hahaha! Well I don't rest enough on top of the seats only long long train rides. There's intense fatigue already. I should stay put for 2-3 days in Vancouver to recover some then decide. Foggy brain thinking may lead to bad decisions and worse

I mean if you don't have work or any other committments then why not? also if money is not a issue. But yeah that trip will be in your memory for a long time, so why not go through with it ? not a bad idea, as long as health/time/budget allows it.

That is a good plan. Once you are rested Amtrak may be the only way to get back home without spending extra bucks. I was thinking though since it would be a one way trip, you may be able to find an airline ticket in your budget. Else it's Greyhound.

Now that you've got my attention.....go on.

Budget is the biggest factor. Even limiting hotel stays so far and staying one day at friends house in CA, money gets spent.
I don't want to be too stingy on this trip and been spending both on and off the trains and also taking friends out for dinner in CA.
Flying one way to SC will be cheaper, far less tiring and far quicker than another multi day train trip. I hate hate hate air travel but it's I necessary evil.
I'll decide what to over the next two days. Extending the trip won't bankrupt me. But the extension would have to make sense!

My one instance was when once me and my ex wife took half a day off and coming back to home, we took back roads, and i saw a herd of animals in the distance, i slowed down the car and noticed it was pack of wild boars, i got excited as someone who never saw wild boars, i stopped the car and try to get out to take pics, my wife yell at me to get back in car cause wild boars can be dangerous, they can kill you and eat you lol of course it was out of her love/concern but that southern acsent... oh boy!!! rest of the story is R rated lol

yeah Hotels kills a lot of trips for me, that's why i was looking into the campers, too bad my car only tow up to 2000lbs, and its hard to find a cheap/affordable camper in that range, staying in camping grounds or trailer parks will save a lot of money specially in mid-west.
