This should be a reality check on the extent of Saudi financial underwriting that can be expected. Pakistan had to pay 7.75% and 8.25% market interest rates to repay the 3 billion Saudi loan that had replaced the money UAE had demanded back earlier in the year.

Sure, Saudi Arabia will pay for specific security services, but one should not expect a carte blanche or general financial support unrelated to the al Saud's own security.
