They seem to have night vision incorporated to the helmets!
Something we've never seen before.
Makes you wonder what else are they using that we don't know about...HMDS? HMS? Someday we'll find out.
Ain’t no way the French denied meteor to Egypt.
Men bo2ak l'bab el sama y'asta. If not for the actual purpose, then for the sake of not hearing about it anymore. Because if you think about it, BVR is not really as significant as some make it out to be, especially with today's short-medium range A2A missiles like the MICA IR/EM & ER and the aircraft's + surrounding EW environment. Those are already beyond visual range missile only at the lower end of the spectrum and they have incredibly advanced speeds, seeking & guidance technology including maneuverability.
For most of the top 10 best-considered A2A missiles out there, the EAF has 3 of them and if it made a better effort to acquire the R-27E/ER and possibly the R-37M, it would have 5 of the top best A2A missiles including arguably the best & fastest & longest-range missile in the R-37M plus it has the AIM-7 Sparrow and the AIM-9L/M. That's not group of slouch missiles! And if somehow it gets the IRIS-T with the EFT, it will have 6 plus the other 4 I just mentioned. Question is of course if they get the Typhoon + IRIS-T and if Russia would supply the R-37M as it is also influenced by the zionist to a certain degree.
All that being said, I think the EAF is perfectly fine as presently constituted considering the missiles it already has, the A2A environment & ranges around Egypt to defend itself and let's not forget its electronic warfare & countermeasures environment that dictates a lot of probability of kill scenarios & successes of opponent's missiles.
Now think of adding the Meteor to this batch. It would mostly be to get rid of the stigma at this point lol.
And if we think about it, since when has there really been any conflict clashes between advanced aircraft of the same generation, i.e. 4-gen vs 4-gen or 4+ vs 4+ where any BVR kill was made at a significant distance? The only one I am aware of was the recent Pakistani F-16 firing an AIM-120C-5 against the Indian MiG-21 Bison which at the time I believe was only equipped with R-37s and despite the Indian Bison's upgrades, it's still easily a generation below the Pakistani F-16 which was a Block 52 (I think those are the only ones they have that can fire the AIM-120C-5 someone can correct me if I'm wrong about that). So there is some disparity there, but the most important thing is the range of the kill was estimated at a mere 7 - 10 kilometers. That's been a bit of a point of contention so let's say it was 15 kms. Heck let's even give them 20 kms for the kill. That's well under all of the EAF's missiles' ranges such as the MICA's which are classified, but guestimates are between 50kms - 80kms.
The only other one that is a bit disputed but we'll just go with it is the Russian R-37M supposedly fired from an Su-57 at a Ukrainian Su-27 from an alleged distance of 217km. Some say it was fired from an Su-35S but either way, there are major generation gaps between the killed aircraft and the winning one. This also gives credence to the importance of the EAF need to acquire the Su-35S to open the path to the Su-57. Now we're in limbo as far as that's concerned which frankly sucks!
So getting the Meteor to me at this point is mostly a formality. The EAF is actually in a good position currently and if the new Rafales are loaded as many expect, it'll be even better as the stigma of the BVR hoopla in the EAF will end once and for all! Enough is enough with that crap, seriously. It's tiring, right?
