It's been 2 hours. If helicopter was intact, radio contact could've been made by now.BBC reporting that the convoy was made up of 3 helicopters and the other 2 landed safely. So that's a good thing. It sounds more like a possible pilot/bad weather type thing unfortunately but hey, crap happens. All you can do is the best to mitigate the risk.
Fog , mist etc which appear suddenly, disappears pretty soon to.
That means this fog was probably not a sudden weather phenomena but was there way earlier. And pilot decided to move in.

as ever - lots of questions asked after an incident - but having the president and prime minister in the same helicopter is poor risk management ..
Really I think Amir Abdollahian can be real HVT of this "accident". Hope It is just an accident and not another assassination.foreign minister not prime minister, iran doesn't have a prime minister
Believe my I know first hand what it's like to be operating a major piece of equipment and then suddenly and instantaneously be faced with adverse weather that came out of nowhere. It's a terrible thing to go through especially when you have family onboard and you're way out in the ocean.
True. But the other two helicopters that landed safely might not have visual contact with the one that crashed and they're the only ones who can communicate, maybe they're being cautious which is definitely the right thing to do.
