HAL LCA Tejas: Updates, News & Discussions

issue of engine delivery is becoming increasingly complicated between India and USA due to strained relations. USA is also unhappy with the fact that Tejas will be deployed at Pakistan border, as Pakistan is an ally of USA. India has already started searching for alternative engine for Tejas.

oh I SEE what you did there. Maybe you should add that after Kamala tajes over she will scrap deal and give free F22 to pakistan.

delay of Tejas MK1A by 10 years will not render it obsolete. Instead, it will feature even more powerful upgrades and be renamed Tejas MK1B. delay in the production of Tejas MK1 was the reason Tejas MK1A was envisioned. delay in Tejas MK1A means it will be replaced by Tejas MK1B, which will have Indian Kaveri or an uprated French M-88 engine.

I am sure, look forward to you and me debating Tejas MK1B delivery times 10 years from now....

If your suggesting Tejas will be cancelled so beit
We learn we move on and upwards
We will open a new thread
Prehaps
Rafale F5 production. In India
Su57 mark two in India
F16/21 Lockheed are itching to build in India
So Tejas is one option

Honesty, I have a feeling, The Tejas program is soon to be discontinued, and all its funding will be diverted to the Rafale project. India will acquire a large number of Rafales under the 'Make in India' initiative. Yes make in India Rafale coming in numbers. (No insider or trust me bro information, just my gut feeling).

Cannot wait for India to fund Dassault R&D for the next 10 years.

Now moved from September to November....

More delay in Tejas Mark 1A delivery

NEW DELHI: The Indian Air Force (IAF) on Wednesday said that the first light combat aircraft Tejas Mk 1A is likely to be received by November this year, after missing the February 2024 deadline.

Tejas Mk1A is the newer and improved version of India’s single-engine, 4.5 generation delta wing multirole combat aircraft designed by the Aeronautical Development Agency.

A source in the defence and security establishment said that the plane’s maker, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), has promised that it would deliver the first aircraft by November.

“HAL had promised that it would deliver 16 aircraft this fiscal. But we do not believe that we would be able to receive even eight jets this fiscal,” the source added.

The IAF is currently grappling with depleting squadrons of fighter jets. “We are pushing for eight planes this fiscal year,” the source said.

It should be noted that the HAL has been facing issue with the supply of engines from the multinational conglomerate General Electric (GE) Company. The GE has not so far delivered a single F404-IN20 engine that powers the jets.

According to the defence source, there are several issues other than the engines, which HAL has to address. It also includes design and development.

“The engine is the larger issue, and behind it, all other problems are hidden,” he said. According to several media reports, GE had cited supply chain as the issue for the delay in delivering the engines to HAL.

The design and development issue would take time to be done, another source said. They also added that the HAL had to deliver 10 LCA Tejas trainer jets but only five have been delivered to the IAF.

For IAF, this is a matter of concern as the two squadrons of Russian-origin MiG-21 Bisons will be retired soon.

Defence order book

83 LCA Tejas Mk 1A ordered at Rs 46,000 cr in 2021, delivery was to start in March

97 LCA Tejas Mk 1A for Rs 67,000 cr was cleared by DAC in Nov 2023

40 LCA Tejas Mk 1 were ordered initially, of which 35 have been inducted till now

Tejas is a single engine, light weight multi role fighter, originally meant to replace MiG 21

USA has ditched Pakistan period
The double dealing and backstabbing during WOT has cost Pakistan dearly
Couple this with a econmic collapse failing rupee Pakistan needs china to help it stand up literally in every way
They really are on their needs
I heard imf have handed over 20 loans since independence none have been paid back completely

So coming back to Tejas or indeed Indian poor management or decision making

I look at this holistically
India is massive economic power power now will rightly take Third place and be bigger more powerful than all on the planet bar USA and china

These Indians get things right eventually
The Indian navy leads the way in independence indengious systems giving India a world class fleet

The air force will get this right soon enough
China is beyond reach we cannot fight china ever we best stick to diplomacy
But Pakistan offers nil threat to India now it's complete mis match in fire power financial muscle global standing etc
So Tejas beng late or failed or shut down is not a big deal being made here
Next door they have no idea where or what they can do about anything but rely on good will
You canny win arms race or ideology battle with this inherent weakness

Off topic I know but related
No it isn’t - you’re just desperate and this is your last warning.

We would leave it alone if you yourself would stop bla bla about Chinese fifth generation and Chinese j31
I suggest you look at your posts first
He is referring to threats - you are derailing with whataboutism on irrelevance.

HAL and ADA have begun modifying the Tejas MK2 air intake to accommodate the 92 kN Kaveri engine and the upcoming 110 kN engine, which is being developed in collaboration with France for the AMCA and the French fifth-generation fighter jet.

Should I quote the source of my information? Everything I say has a source, unlike the claims of J-20 being a fifth-generation fighter jet, which no air force in the world believes. A fighter jet that can be detected by PESA radar of Su-30MKI cannot be considered a fifth-generation fighter jet by any definition.

They call it a sixth-generation fighter jet, but it's essentially an upgraded fifth-generation fighter jet, just like an upgraded fourth-generation fighter jet is called a 4.5-generation fighter jet. There is no significant difference in the basic design of a fourth and a 4.5-generation fighter jet. The Indian Su-30MKI is currently called a fourth-generation fighter jet, but after the Super Sukhoi upgrades, it will be classified as a 4.5-generation fighter jet.

Came on … just the recent reports mentioned that the Kaveri is just being prepared for 80kN, the one with the higher thrust is a plan, a project and so far nothing is signed with France or anyone.
As such your post is again pure chest-bumping and feel-good but bare any substance.

And regarding this BS, the J-20 is not a fifth generation type and other similar BLAHBLAH, the source is surely again this famous retired Air Marshal who is also a Rafale test pilot. 🤡 :ROFLMAO:
