I was merely referring to the level of research that has gone into writing the book. Too many characters. Don't remember names as I have never heard most of them. Very difficult to pronounce too, a lot these German names. Not all of them are of great consequence. It's like watching a fast paced movie with a lot of characters. It's nearly 800 pages on Kindle. Don't know if I will be able to finish it.New names? Like what? Give us a sample of some that have furrowed your brow in the last read or two?

That's fascinating. Let me see if I can afford it next month. There are already dozens of books in my Amazon reading lists, waiting to be bought.I was merely referring to the level of research that has gone into writing the book. Too many characters. I'm writing.
A highly confidential memoir titled
A Remembered Life
A Memoir Based On Stories About His Life That My Father Narrated To Me
It is intended to be only for family circulation, as there are stories there of a very sensitive nature, concerning State secrets, that are unsuitable to be shared in public.
For reading, feeling very melancholy this morning, I re-read bits of A Memory of Light, Vol. XIV of The Wheel of Time, specifically, about Mat Cauthon in battle.
It cheered me up, a bit.
Not mine, not mine! I had a dull life, compared to my father!! Of course, it was adventure and thrills all within the sphere of an Imperial Police officer's job, and after he retired (at 56, very early), and went into other activities, we all quickly lernt that he was a giant figure as a policeman, but not much else.Tip my hat to you, sir. It’s a privilege to live a full life and still more privilege to write about that life. It’s unfortunate that it’s for family circulation but wouldn’t the presence of sensitive material pose prospect of unintentional leaks?
I suspect only Indians will find it of interest. He was not an international figure, just a provincial one, who lived through very interesting times, and had very interesting friends and very interesting experiences.Anyways, it will be a pleasure for the forum to get a sneak peek view of the memoir. I am sure members would love the opportunity.

Yes, there is that fear of unintentional leaks, but the relatively more open version is for reading by my wife, my daughter, son-in-law, and when he is of a suitable age, my grandson, who is 7 years old now. There will be a somewhat edited version for cousins and an aunt, all who survive him of six brothers and their wives, and two sisters and their husbands. Perhaps two of my cousins on the other side might get copies.
That second will be a carefully edited version.
My own life will not be written, as it is worth nothing without full revelation of all details, and some are painful to write about and painful to read. Once a dear friend wanted to push me for an assignment with a rich man, and twisted my arm and got a resume out of me. He was frankly disappointed and felt there had been too much 'discretion', with interesting details left out. After two more increasingly frank and open versions, I finally was in a self-deprecatory and rather savage temper, and wrote the real thing (mind you, only about professional details). It immediately got for me what my friend was seeking, but the interactions were disappointing, and it seemed that nobody really was willing to come to work closely with me, treating me at arms' length and in a manner that I found cloying.
As for the combined personal and professional life, if I submitted it to a Bollywood producer, he would fling it out of a window and ask for a version at least remotely resembling reality.

<sigh>Thank you for the detailed post.
