Iranian Air Defence Systems | News and Discussions

thanks but remember IADS means less for a large area like Iran, Israel with its dozens of billions of USD worth of airdefence still got beaten to stars by IRGC's missile strikes not once but twice. Such is the nature of modern combat, no matter how much you cover your airspace, enemy will still find a way.

Good point but fortunately Iran has far more offensive power relative to the entity.

They do not have more than probably some low hundreds of their air launched ballistic missiles, and these have a much smaller warhead than those on the Iranian ballistic missiles that can go up to 1.5 tonnes it seems.

Iran needs to focus its IADS on its key energy, missile launch, nuclear, air/naval bases, and certain civilian locations such as Tehran and Isfahan.

Yes some will always get through but it is a case of minimising the impact to almost negligible levels and then hitting the entity with a 10x bigger punch.

Their narrative for missiles and drones fell flat after 2020

So i don't see why it will not happen for air defenses

Before 2020
"Iran has photoshopped missiles made with a 3d printer that has 100km of CEP"
After 2020
"Sure those missiles are good but they are cheap, its still crappy but effective"

Drones before Ukraine
"Iran has AliExpress drones"
"Shahed is made from a 3d printer" "The engine has been bought on Amazon"
After Ukraine
"Sure they are cost effective but they are cheap"
"Give Ukraine patriots"

I don't see why the same will not happen for air defenses

self-reassuring themselves and underestimating their opponents, always the exact same mistakes the west makes

That, if we assume IRGC actually wanted to hurt Israel. My guess is that they deliberately decreased the warhead size to reduce the damage. The intention was probably strategic level to signal that we dont want escalation but we have the escalation capability if need be. This puts you in charge of deciding where the battle is going.

Iran IADS is strong to a point that it compensates for "hated/condemned" IRIAF but like I said before, IADS always gets depleted with time. Israeli example is in front of us.

Airdefence be it AD or fighters, will always be at disadvantage in combat. SAMs are expensive and fighters cant shoot down Ballistic missiles. This is why west never allowed majority of the muslim countries to have robust missile capabilities. They would give them fighter jets, tanks, ships etc all conventional weapons that can be targeted if needed but missile program was always kept out of reach.

Westerners are stupid and soon they will see the results of their stupidity in war.

Iran still has a decent chance of shooting down at least a percentage of Zionist air-launched ballistic missiles as they will have a relatively lower speed compared to ballistic missiles like MRBMs and IRBMs.

Zionist missiles also fly a ballistic trajectory and have no HGV capability and so as long as Iranian radars on Bavar-373 can get a track on it, then it would be feasible to shoot it down with the Sayyad-4 SAM.

Its very hard to shoot down an ALBM if the missile adapts the "Lofted" Trajectory because ABM batteries then just cant predict the "Apogee" of the missile which is abnormally high for range and KE in case of ALBMs.

This is why Fattah HGV needs to be integrated on F-4E/D, SU-24/22 or even F-14, MIG-29.

Americans brutally bombed Yemen's deep underground facilities with B2 bombers and GPU-57 bombs (the most destructive none-nuclear guided bombs) after Iranian warning message through Oman that if Yankees practice in i$raheli possible aggression against Iran, this time Iran will hit Americans directly

not exactly relevant to Iranian AD systems thread

but they claimed they did not use GBU 57

Really seems a MANPADS (Misagh 2?). Anyway the fated Hermes 450 are being registered closely by a IR/TV stabilized system that seems to be same of Majid-08. houthies have shot down many of those using those IR/TV sensors like search and tracking systems. Each Hermes shoot down saves tens of HZ lives. Take in mind that those UAVs are closely scrutinizing the front in search of combatants and have IR designation for artillery and guided bombs. Chasing those Hermes 450 should be priority one.

I have said time and time again, these MALE are obsolete in any environment with even a remote AD capability. They are great for front line surveillance from a far or against Taliban/ISIS type insurgent groups. In contested zones they are cannon fodder, just look at TB-2. You never hear about it anymore.

MALE/HALE drones moving forward should be LO at the minimum. And that also applies to Iran with its long line up of conventional designed MALE drones.

Completely agree. It has no sense with a enemy entity equiped with MANPADS. Even kurdi are shooting down regularly those MALEs.
