The House, the Senate, and the Supreme Court are all now Republican.

The Republicans with Trump in power dare not go against him. The few that did are likely to be destroyed once he comes back into office.

There are few times in recent times where all pillars of power in the USA belonged to one party. And never before has one party pledged so much allegiance to one individual.

The U.S. is in a very dark place, usually this doesn’t end well for the host country (See Stalin, Mussolini, Castro, Hitler as other examples of populist leaders who destroyed their country).

In the 250 year history, this has happened many times. Each institution is very keen on preventing its role and not become a rubber stamp. You see their differences very openly. People made comments like this about Nixon and Reagan too. Nixon ended Vietnam war. (Kissinger even got a Nobel Peace prize for that). Reagan ended Cold War. Trump ended Afghanistan war in his first term and signed many peace deals in Middle East. He is more of the deal maker kind than war maker.

North Korea is still under sanctions and an international pariah that relies on Russia and China to survive.

Nuclear weapons won’t get Iran free from the shackles of trade embargo, sanctions, and exclusion from trade with most of the Western world. It would prevent Iran from a land invasion, which is a remote possibility anyway given the terrain and size of Iran.

So nuclear weapons doesn’t solve the problem for Iran unless it plans to acquire them only to give them away as negotiation pawns.

True but there is probably only another 5-10 years where the west would have this power anymore.

Iran may just want to stay as a "threshold" state officially where it is close(weeks away from assembling multiple devices) and also has fully tested delivery systems ready to deliver the quickly assembled warheads.

In some sense nuclear weapons are not that important as long as Iran has the capability to destroy US bases, "decaptitate" US Gulfie puppets and also the entity with its conventional arsenal. That would deter the US sufficiently from even launching an airstrike on Iranian nuclear facilities.

Banking on the collapse of Western world order is not a wise strategy. As history has shown us, empires can take centuries to fall after their “critical peak”.

Everyone says China will steal the glory. But ignore that by 2100, Chinese population will drop to below 700M.

With AGI, AI, and quantum computers, the future powers are quite unclear. The first to be able to weaponize AGI and automate large parts of their economy before the population death spiral will likely come out on top.

you can not have both, in the current world i would prefer obtaining nuclear weapon, once you obtain you can solve isolation issue with isolation of oil flow from hormuz if they choose to choke you, north korea does not have that option.

Fat Kim got 10 nukes (with questionable delivery/ reliability). The US got 5,000 and the means to deliver them anywhere on the planet with high accuracy.
