JF-17 - Updates, News & Discussion

Deliveries of JF-17 Thunder Block 3 to Azerbaijan soon as PAC will manufacture the jets for export first and then the production for 3rd squadron will be commenced.

I'm getting confused about numbers, how many JF17s including new builds do we actually have?
the highest serial block 2 is 19-259

The highest serial block 1 is 13-150
30 Block 2B (based off of a count)

30 from batch 1 block 3, 30 from batch 2 block 3 (to be delivered)

59+50+30+60(mostly undelivered)= basically 200. Though just subtract 5% for any counting errors if you want to be cautious

Subtract the lost airframes and that will tell you the current inventory.

Nothing confusing or deceitful. took me 5 mins to compile

Overall pretty good, bare in mind block 1s and 2s are due a MLU

In terms of the bigger picture, 200 JF-17+ roughly 85 F-16, 20 *initial* J-10 deliveries- i can guarantee you there is another batch being built, im guessing we will likely cap out at a fleet of 350 manned aircraft, with PAC being dripfed JF-17 orders, alongside a follow up of J-10 orders, perhaps 375 at a push, its clear the PAF will need to make up for the retirement off strike aircraft via drones.

I intentionally omitted mirages and f7s, i believe the jf-17 orders will equip the current block 1/2 operators with block 3's, handing down the 1s and 2s to f-7pg sqns and the j-10 replace the remaining mirage sqns and the rest of the useful airframes be transferred to 50TA saf shikans

Great work 👍

Are any block 1s left or were they all upgraded to block 2s and can every plane be upgraded to block 3 standard?

When do you guys think the mirages will be retired and also are the Non MLU variant F-16s also planned to be retired with them?
