"Pakistan conducts 1st flight of Iqbal Stealth aircraft's tech demonstrator. The aircraft has entered into Scaled Flight Testing.
Sub-scale Flight Testing (SFT) to study the flight behaviour of full-scale aircraft in the early stages of design process by means of free-flying sub scale models backed up by dynamic testing in wind Tunnels.
An example is The US Air Force is collecting data from flight tests of a subscale version of its Blended-Wing Body demonstrator, and using that data to revise the full-scale aircraft’s control software and final configuration—the first flight of which remains on track for 2027

Computational simulation, experimental simulations using sub-scale models (including ground-based testing methods such as wind-tunnel testing, impact testing, etc.) and full-scale flight testing are the three main testing methods. However, full-scale flight testing is impractical in the conceptual and preliminary design stages of an aircraft.
IQBAL, which is designed based on KAAN and its downsised model, successfully completed its first flight today.

IQBAL serves as a test bed for various advanced aerospace technologies and it will play a key role in the technological evolution of KAAN, the 5th generation fighter jet developed by Turkish Aerospace.

, which is epitomized by Turkish Aerospace Pakistan.
We celebrate this accomplishment with pride today and aim to achieve even greater successes in the future."

Any aerospace setup needs a scale model construction facility. Scale models are of two broad kinds:

1- Scale models used in wind tunnel testing
2- Scale flight models used for flight tests.
Wind tunnel testing requires accurate models of flight vehicles and even small parts of the flight vehicles separately.
Most wind tunnel tests are done primarily to measure the aerodynamic flows, and are thus, not about quantifying structural and dynamic effects…

Bro read @JamD 's all recent posts in TFX thread. He has explained it quite well. It's not a marketing stunt.Scale model technology demonstrator of something who’s full scale prototype is flying?
Seems more like a marketing stunt.
Sure it is. It is a carefully scaled aircraft, the flight data from which will be used to gather data for Kaan.
Well yes. It is controlled by radio. But you meant this as condescension. Let me assure you that this is no toy. It is quite heavy, carefully scaled, and has the mission for collection of flight data for the Kaan. It is not the only one. There are at least three flying at TA.
I get. It is done in the industry BEFORE a full scale model to collect data and for POC. But now a full scale prototype is flying for a while. You can get all the real data you need from the actual aircraft.Bro read @JamD 's all recent posts in TFX thread. He has explained it quite well. It's not a marketing stunt.
Actually the reason is the first prototype P0 was NOT meant for flight tests or even flying. It was modified and sort of forced to fly mostly for PR reasons. This is why there have been only two flights in so long. So the actual flight-testing Kaan prototype hasn't flown yet. Furthermore, there are lots of tests that need to be done and many of them are dangerous. There is a fleet of scale models at TA (this is only one of them made by Pakistan), gathering valuable data for the Kaan. I have also seen the scale model for the Anka-III so it is a common thing at TA.I get. It is done in the industry BEFORE a full scale model to collect data and for POC. Looks like a marketing stunt from TAI.
