Can the US win a war with China? Shocking new simulation reveals what could happen if Taiwan is attacked

Vietnam is good at land warfare, but still has a long way to go in air and sea warfare
Yes there is light and shadow with Vietnam military. in the past we annihilated the almighty Mongol armies in 3 consecutive wars. at land, at sea.
the French successfully defeated Vietnam in the first invasion because of the french superiority at sea.
the US army successfully in the first years because of overwhelming US air power.
in the war with the PLA, both sides had agreed to fight on land, no airforce, no navy allowed. So that ended in a stalemate.

yes that’s true. today is difference. Vietnam navy, airforce today is no match to the Chinese army. even the land army.
overall today the PLA can theoretically run over Vietnam.

I think we are off topic.

Many claim to have advantage in a hypothetical scenario. Typical. The US is using conflict situation in Red Sea to learn from a very dangerous anti-shipping threat scenario. This is invaluable experience amd data. Other countries just talking big from a distance as usual. Noteworthy difference.

Modern tech exercises and drills can train your troops better than Houthis pirates armed with grenades and harpoons.

The USN also have modern tech excercises and drills but a conflict situation provides invaluable learning experience when the opposing forces are well-equipped and you don't have control over their actions. Houthi are rag tag in theory but well-equipped in reality, mentally tough, innovative, and battle-hardened in their own right. There is a reason that other navies are mere spectators in Red Sea.

This is why Vance is upset. He says that the US should let all big mouths fight in Red Sea and find out.

Double edge sword, fighting an easy weakling can also expose your own weaknesses to your enemies which they would try to exploit in future wars.

Houthi are not easy weakling, their missiles and drones can blow up the largest of ships. Houthi are a force to be reckoned with. There innvation and mental strength is on surprising levels.

USA never fights a war it can't win.
I was once talking to a Brazilian Air Force officer, he said that the Americans are really powerful, using their full force against countries that were in no position to fight back.

This is a self-soothing rhetoric. The US have fought wars with some of the greatest powers of the world throughout history. The difference is that the US has technological superiority which regional powers cannot offset. Regional powers typically have corruption and arrogance. Many are upset and vent like in this thread.

The author of this article did not expect that a few days later, China's sixth-generation fighter jet would make its first flight. The balance of war has already tilted towards China.

This discussion is boring. everybody or people with a bit sense of reality knows Taiwan defence depends on US’s will to defend or at least provide military assistance if be attacked by the PLA.

if Trump loses interest like he does with Europe or NATO then Taiwan will lose. Taiwan military capability is probably on par with the Philippines. Almost 0.

They actually underinvest in their military on purpose. It is actually cheaper to just be an American lapdog.

You have to admire the stubborness of the Viets. They managed to fight off Chinese dominance even after 1000 years of colonization. If Vietnam did not resist, today Vietnam will be no different from Guangdong or Fujian or Guangxi. Another province.

Can USA beat China in a war?

If its USA army vs Chinese army, China outnumbers USA by a lot. Probably USA cannot defeat China.

Can the USA airforce beat the Chinese airforce? Possibly if the USA has a large technological superiority.

Same goes if there is a Naval war, unless USA has a massive naval superiority.

Actually the rebellion, the split up Viet Nam from China came from the Viet nobles, the upper classes. not the mass.
it may sound ridiculous.
I support the idea of state union with Japan.
something similar here in Europe
maybe we can do with China.
will be interesting.

No, we don't want to have union with Japan, Chinese want to obliterate the islands some day.
