I've always heard that people from Southern China are usually shorter than Northerners, but not really sure what the average height in the South is.

There were two northerners and two southerners in my university dormitory, and the two from the south were about ten centimeters shorter. But with the movement of people and intermarriage, the gap is narrowing.

Many years ago, it was true. But now this problem can be ignored.

I am from Sichuan,Southwest China. my height is 183cm. My son's height is close to 190cm.

Chinese female soldiers are not allowed to wear make-up (with the exception of civilian soldiers) and are not allowed to grow their hair long. Also, the female soldiers in your video are militia, they are not professional soldiers. China's militia only trains intensively once or twice a year for 10 days each time.

These men are honor guards. One honor guard out of a thousand soldiers. Their posture will be top-notch, of course. They don't represent the average. Most PLA don't have that level.

Viet people are not that tall.
I only know Viet people in Qui nhon, Binh dinh are tall. but not 1.8 or 1.9 on average.

I think the modern foods nutrition have caught up with Chinese people in the last couple of decades and that's the big reason. Dutch people also Germanic are the tallest people in the world by country, Germans that different ?

No. This is not the average height of Chinese people.

I am relatively tall among my peers. When I was in school, I basically sat in the last two rows. But I am extremely thin. I weigh less than 65Kg.
My son is also very tall among his peers. He weighs normal, about 85Kg.

This is not the average height of Chinese people.
But young people nowadays are generally taller than my generation.
I guess it has something to do with genetic evolution and nutrition.

no militia. they are military and police forces. they carry military uniform, military gears.

Yes, they are generally taller than the Germans. I go often to the Netherlands, maybe one a month. just 10 minutes drive from Germany. why they taller? probably because they eat raw fermented fish.

Are you kidding ? Vietnam is more crowded than China. Most Chinese may not want to move to Vietnam because of living standard, but you can find few that like to live in tropical beach coasts.

I thought Dutch is Germanic as learned before, at least their language is Germanic, then genetically Scandinavian ? No. I don't think it's the raw fish, Japanese also eat raw fish and they are historically short. Dutch drink lots of milk as they have a famous milk brank in Chinese. Chinese don't drink much milk either, that's the problem.
