I don't want to write something that will hurt the feelings of our shia brethren, but yes, they can't go against the fatwa given by an Ayatollah. And it is not possible to take back the fatwa too.

Anyway, I have very limited knowledge of the fatwa system in Shia islam, so can't comment on it further. For me, it was the most stupid fatwa I have ever heard from someone whose entire nation was living with an existential threat for decades.

There is a concept of taqlid of mujtahids (Ayatullahs) in Shia madhab. There are 3 marja e taqlid that shiites can follow and these are the major ones, Khamenei, Sistani and Bashir Hussain Najafi who is originally from Pakistan. One way to avoid a fatwa is to change your taqlid. Also fatwas can change in my opinion and should change depending on the dynamics involved. For example Pork and blood does become ‘halal’ at a point where your existence is threatened without it. Then again this is my limited understanding and I am not a scholar.

When will Iran reach the point of needing to declare full mobilisation ? The whole logic that Trump is relying on, is that this can be "self contained". A full mobilisation now will send the message to the world that this will engulf the entire middle east. That is a valuable pressure point for Iran in the war of narratives that may cause the USA to back off ?

Iran could threaten to push into Iraq and take over all American bases there when the war starts. Make it look like a bad decision that the Americans need to back off from.

Israeli Ambassador to the US Yechiel Leiter told CNN today that the US-provided missile defense systems, including THAAD, have helped save “hundreds perhaps thousands of lives” in Israel since Iran began its retaliatory missile attacks four days ago.

Here’s why the missile defense system is effective:

• The Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) battery is one of the US military’s most powerful anti-missile weapons, capable of intercepting ballistic missiles at ranges of 150 to 200 kilometers (93 to 124 miles) and with a near-perfect success rate in testing.
• Using a combination of advanced radar systems and interceptors, it is the only US missile defense system that can engage and destroy short-, medium-, and intermediate-range ballistic missiles both inside or outside the atmosphere during their terminal phase of flight — or dive on their target.
• THAAD interceptors are kinetic, meaning they take out incoming targets by colliding with them rather than exploding near the incoming warhead.

According to a report by the Congressional Research Service, the US military has seven THAAD batteries, each consisting of six truck-mounted launchers — with eight interceptors apiece — a powerful radar system and a fire control and communications component.

Through a broad command and control and battle management system, THAAD batteries can communicate with a range of US missile defenses, including Aegis systems — commonly found aboard US Navy ships — and Patriot missile defense systems that are designed to intercept shorter-range targets. Those other missile defense systems are more numerous than THAAD.

You sure? Normally in Islam a scholar can take back a fatwa aswell, fatwa is just a religious ruling depending on a given situation, at times situation can change and fatwa changes ie getting bombed by Israel hint hint Ayatullah sahib.

I don't know about Shia Islam.. A friend of mine told me that Ayatollah's fatawa carry some other importance. Maybe he was wrong. Not everyone knows his sect fully. Even I don't know many things when it comes to Shariah.

Couldnt agree with you more regarding the possibilities of Iranian power today if they had nuclear weapons. I dont understand the Fatwa against it. When your sworn enemy has so much destructive power you chose to not have it. How come it goes against the Islamic teachings is beyond me.

Remove Ayatollahs from power and Iran will become a 3-4 trillion USD GDP bearing economy, with large industrial base and one of the largest STEM workforces in the world to run that system. Why would anyone wants that in the heart of ME/CA ? Ayatollahs make sure that does not happen so they are sitting in power for decades and decades because it suits Russia, West, and even China.

I think we need to take a step back. Iran has been under comprehensive territorial sanctions for decades preventing it from imports, trade and alliances. Non-western nations did not want to ally or trade with Iran due to fear of secondary sanctions’ exposure. This is why Iran was isolated. This has been in the works to make Iran weak so a war such as today is easier. Same with Syria, and Saddam. The west’s collective bias, double standards and hatred for Muslim sovereignty has no limits.

What do you think comprehensive sanction would do to an economy such as Pakistan?

This is why the Muslims need an economic and political union such as the EU, their own currency and financial structures. This is the only way to fight back and remain sovereign. This is what israel and the US aipac establishment are working tirelessly to prevent.

Another factor would be to not expose too many launchers until the threat of Mossad agents inside Iran with NLOS Spikes who hunt mobile launchers and SAMs is eliminated. Eliminating this threat would open up more freedom for the IRGC missile force to operate.

To clarify a fatwa given by an ayatollah is not divine ordinance the who basis is that, He would know more about scriptures and the. Comes up with his own understanding of issues so the people who follow that fatwa and if that fatwa is considered wrong on the day of judgement it is his accountability and sin because he intentionally or unintentionally misled people. So this Ayatullah position minus the memes is a very strict and stressful role to be in because your whole hereafter is on the line based on your words that people follow.
