True, I was just replying to your point of "global outrage". The tankers / cargo ships can be identified. I know it won't effect US massively. But even if it effects it slightly that's okay. I know all about op praying mantis, you know Iran changed its entire tactics after that. No large ships. They work now on ambush tactics. Iran has literally 1000s of missile boats which can ambush any warships. Plus they have coastal missile batteries. They can create a lot of noise in strait of hormuz. But one thing in which you are right that Iran will struggle against air power due to sheer lack of air defense.

US Ships don't need to enter the strait. Unlike the 80's, these boats can be tracked and engaged from the air. The GCC doesn't even need the US military to take care of these missile boats.
