India - US Tariff and Relations | News + Updates

It will be beyond wild if India decides they can make nice with China.

You have to imagine the Americans as being absolutely furious.

Many thinkers and figures across the deep state invested into India, and it took them days to switch side to China.

What was the actual point, are we forgetting that the USA is in a strategic black hole as well in South Asia?
I think there is a lot of posturing going on, but, though India does have some cards, they are mostly carrots and not any sticks. The China card is the only one that can be seem as imposing costs.

I don't think the institutional relationship is as bad as the headlines between Trump and Modi and even they have not directly attacked each other.

There are two basic problems:
1. Trump desperately wants a Nobel Prize and India is not helping.
2. India made an early offer for a deal which looked a good one at that time and thought the deal was going to be done. Then Vietnam agreed to an extremely generous deal for the US, which set the benchmark for all other deals. Trump wanted all other countries to match or improve that deal and India , which thought the deal had been sealed, simply couldn't match the market access provided by Vietnam and others without crossing its red lines.

Yeah, Vietnam's trade negotiators unravelled the most significant new strategic partnership of the century

The Indians haven't understood the game. They have been left bamboozled. All the analysis that I have read up until now proves our point. Indians pretend to be masters of diplomacy, but they are not. Modi has completely misread Trump and taken him for granted. As a result, the Indians are today flexing fake muscles and hoping that their courageous Modi can teach the US a lesson.

indians have a very myopic view of the world. The indians believed that as long as you were vehemently Islamaphobic, racist towards Muslims and very pro-zionist, the west would ALWAYS support you NO MATTER what. They NEVER thought that all the goodies and privileges they were getting from the america and the west would eventually need to be paid back by india becoming a bulwark against and confronting China. Also, the americans and the west are angry that the Indian military hasn't developed and is in fact stagnant. If the indian military cannot take in Pakistan, how on earth can they take in China? There is a lot that america and the west can be angry about with india.

Did you even read?

  • BECA (Basic Exchange and Cooperation Agreement) — Signed in Delhi on October 27, 2020 during Mike Pompeo’s visit. Gives India access to U.S. geospatial/intelligence data to improve the accuracy of missiles and armed drones; signals closer Air Force–to–Air Force cooperation. Pompeo and U.S. Defense Sec. Mark Esper explicitly linked the step to countering Chinese “aggression.”

  • LEMOA (Logistics Exchange Memorandum of Agreement) — Allows both militaries to use and reimburse each other’s bases for fuel, spares, and services—positioned as enabling Navy–to–Navy cooperation.

  • COMCASA (Communications Compatibility and Security Agreement) — Signed in September 2018. Lets India acquire and use secure, encrypted communications systems so Indian and U.S. commanders, ships, and aircraft can talk over protected networks—deepening operational interoperability.

Now don't tell me these pacts were signed to take on Thailand. Grow a spine.
Many countries sign such agreements, even with frenemies. None of these is an anti- China pact.

You certainly share a lot of qualities with the guy you quoted in the original post.

The other approach is to make India's policy inconsistent like burger flipper.

If Modi is going down, then they will elect Rahul Gandhi of the Congress, another clown whose puppeteer is the US Democrat.
No that would be too risky because Rahul Gandhi displays signs of being rational at times. Modi, or someone like Modi has to remain in power in India. It is very beneficial for the whole region in the long-term strategic point of view.

Oh dear oh dear....

US cancels India trade talks scheduled for August: report

Looks like India will taste 50% tariff.

To quote Elon Musk, Navarro is a "moron" and "dumber than a sack of bricks". The only reason Trump humors him is because he spent four months in prison after being convicted of contempt of Congress due to his own stupidity.
Your allegation that he is dumb, does not solve India's problems.

There is only one daddy and the indian military can confirm it 1000%. It is called the Pakistan Airforce (PAF).
I thought Asim Muneer and the Pakistan army was the daddy of Pakistan and the air force was largely professional and apolitical.

These indians are so freaking delusionals. Now saying they want to normalise relations with China. It is like a fuking Goat trying to normalise its relations with a Lion.
