now Russia is drafting a UNSC resolution to postpone the snapback deadline

it is very unlikely to pass as the US and E3 oppose it

How would Russia have access to information about Indigenous Iranian Air defense systems to give to Israel?
Why are you asking me? I refer you to your old comment that said you were not part of the system. Neither am I. You should ask him for more information.

All I'm saying is that a member of the Council of Experts has said that. Maybe he's referring to S-300s but I know as much as you or any other person here.

seems unlikely

council of experts is filled with 90 year old clerics. doubt they have their finger on the pulse on military affairs

conflicting reports on Iran-EU negotiations to extend the snapback deadline

Iranian sources indicate an agreement is close, while Western sources claim the EU is not satisfied with Iran's proposals and unless Iran agrees to reinstate full IAEA access, they will invoke snapback in the coming days.

I was wrong though. He's a member of the Expediency Discernment Council of the System, whatever that means lol

Today I read that IAEA inspectors are back and will soon visit Bushehr.

If true, the only way for Iran to acquire significant fissile material (Bushehr reactor) will be under IAEA inspection as well.

yes, assembly of experts is designed to supervise Khamenei (in theory, not aware of them ever actually doing any supervising)

I don't know much about this discernment council but imagine it is also filled with 60-90 year olds appointed by Khamenei who don't do much

I think IAEA inspectors never stopped visiting Bushehr since it is an active nuclear power plant and the IAEA has to be present when fuel rods are inserted / exchanged

What prospects are there for pursuing an alternative WMD? Iran certainly has the infrastructure for a different kind of weapon...

Yes, we have too many useless councils lol They need an excuse to give someone close to them a political position after all.

Apparently they did kick all IAEA inspectors.
Bushehr reactor remains Iran's only remaining chance of acquiring enough fissile material to produce more than 10 nuclear weapons. It produces nearly 200 kg of plutonium per year.

Nothing really. Nothing that would be able to wipe out a country's infrastructure like nuclear weapons.
We can produce biological or chemical weapons but it would kill humans instead of destroying Israeli critical civilian and military infrastructure. The purpose of a nuclear weapon is mostly to wipe out a large part of the country's vital infrastructure.
We can produce EMP weapons with localized effect, but nothing in the scale of nuclear EMPs.

anyway there's no plutonium reprocessing facility

I know about that, but Iran did kick all IAEA inspectors out. But they're returning.

Yeah, but it was our only hope. Our enrichment capability seems to be gone and we have lost our 408 kg of 60% HEU. Even if we get 60% HEU, we won't be able to convert UF6 into uranium metal anymore. We don't seem to have any other option left but to go down the path of plutonium reprocessing, which is also impossible to hide because Iran is full of spies and it requires large facilities with proper handling.

looks like IR is about to capitulate. and all this just to DELAY E3's ability to invoke snapback. and if Iran doesn't capitulate on enrichment inside Iran with the US by the new deadline then they will invoke snapback anyway.

Biological and chemical weapons aren't even good for that really. Too unpredictable and can't really be delivered by missiles.
