JF-17 - Updates, News & Discussion

Me too!! I was earlier trying to find a fan made promo video of the FC1 test flights that had the "The Rasmus" as the background music, but youtube is playing slow on that right now.
I remember that video! It was first uploaded on defencetalk. We also had a member with the handle Londo Molari on there who made kickass animated JF-17 videos.

;) Found an unauthorized version of Londo’s video. Still good to see it for old times sake.

When the JF17 came out I half expected the James Bond theme to be playing

A Chinese documentary on the JF-17's maiden flight.

This...
You can imagine it, but don't expect it to become a reality. At least, not for a very, very long time.
But Chinese tech advances quickly. Preparing for the day when the WS-19 achieves its goal thrust and is cleared for exports may only be 10-15 years away.

Fourth prototype of JF-17 thunder rectifying all the previous design errors. F-35 style Diverterless supersonic inlet DSI for stealthier characteristics & turbulent boundary layer airflow away from the engine inlet. Advanced 4.5 generation electronic flight instrument system Glass cockpit consisted of 3 Multi Functional Display MRDs (HOTAS) control. Reduced body weight through redesigned interior more space has been created, increase in more fuel capacity, increased in range as well. This shows that the new design more capable then in previous ones.

JF-17 block III with New KLJ-7A Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) Radar which can track 15 targets & Engage 4 targets simultaneously along with a helmat-Mounted display (HMD). AESA radar can Help JF-17 block III resist enemy Jamming & successfully engage targets.

AESA radar is equipped with many (TRM) Nd each TRM is capable of emitting it's own Radio wave. Firstly, low probability of intercept by older radar because difficult for radar warning Receiver RWR to intercept because many TRM sending different signals.

Secondly, the highest resistance of jamming (electronic warfare suites). AESA radar can emit different frequencies within a single pulse. Hence jamming would become more difficult. So that PAF decided to upgrade JF-17 Block with KLJ-7A AESA radar which is a major upgrade in JF-17 block III of Pakistan Air Force
