It would be peanuts for the rich GCC countries to have Pakistan in their corner. A mere $20 billion of financial engagement per year to Pakistan, through FDI or grants or whatever means, is chump change for the GCC Arab countries but with good benefits in return, but that would greatly reduce the pressure Pakistan has been facing in its fiscal policies every year. And I believe the current leadership in Pakistan is well aware that 'either perform or perish', so nothing is going to be taken for granted by Pakistan anymore.
If the Pakistani state was as dysfunctional, and as 'corrupt', as the blogspace wants you to believe then it could not have successfully carried on the policies in Afghanistan post 9/11 and it could not have given India the bloody nose. Think about that!
