The misconceptions are very real. Heard so much of "Pakistan created the Taliban" since I was a child, that I just took it as a given. I knew about some of the factions and their histories, but this post ties up everything together, pretty nicely.

Pakistan didn't 'create' the Taliban. An excellent resource on the origins of the Afghan Taliban is Ahmed Rashid old book 'Taliban'. Basically, after the Soviets left and Najibullah fell, the Afghans, as they always do, started slaughtering each other. It was truly horrible massacres. Lawlessness everywhere. Trade convoys were forced to pay bribes to different warlords. Warlords everywhere. One particular incident in Qandahar angered the locals led by Mullah Umar to target the criminals and they formed the Taliban movement. Pakistan decided to support that faction as they seemed more sincere, more capable. It was the right decision. It is always better to deal with one stable faction who holds the power then with 20 factions.

But what's puzzling to me is why on hell the Afghan Taliban govt is needling Pakistan!!! I see no reason. I had high hopes of them when they took the power in August 2021.

By earning their trust

How? You have repeated this twice. What will it take to earn their trust? The blood spilled by these dogs is not enough to convince these people that this needs to stop and they need to play their part? Do they wish to keep living in these conditions? Are they okay with all those terrorist attacks these dogs carried out in main cities of Pakistan .. does their trust lack common sense? Who suffered most by the actions of these dogs?

these communities can serve as vigilant allies, acting as your eyes and ears to prevent terrorists from crossing into Pakistan.

Why don't they do it now? Why does it have to be conditional?

You are making it sound like as if it is very okay for them to let these dogs cross into Pakistani territory, take shelter in their homes, share their food, plan, mobilize, execute, kill Pakistanis and go back .. but they won't inform and help Pakistan just because they distrust Pakistan?

All this because Pakistani state took their AK-47 away?

So in essence we sacrificied 80k plus precious pakistanis in WOT, lost billions of dollars, violated our sovereignity, to protect our strategic depth and never giving up on our afghan ‘brothers’……for them to then to continue harbouring terrorists, killing pakistanis at will and sacrificing precious soldiers……are these the good taliban?

Pakistani Army is criminally negligible or at best simply incompetent.

Their is no dialogue possible with these cavemen. Create a buffer, build a wall and a strip of no go zone, anything that moves in that zone simply eliminate.

Policy on O/T posts going forward:

An in depth article from 2022 when Pakistan was negotiating with TTP and had released hundreds of jailed TTP commanders and fighters, including Muslim Khan. These talks were facilitated by Haqqani faction of the Taliban. Reading between the lines, it's the Haqqanis who are in bed with TTP, not the Kandahari Taliban faction.

Stop trying to rationalize. I stopped 15 years ago.

They think by bending the knee and appearing docile and weak they will stop killing them.

From an outsiders perspective I can't tell you how weak this makes Pakistan look. There is a reason why so many nations lost respect for Pakistan during the last 20 years. Brick by brick we will put this right and establish firm deterence on our western front.

the solution is too let TTP take over and run all the territory till Swat. Negotiations, diplomacy have been tried for over 30 years too no avail. At one point 1/6 of Pakistan was controlled by them and that still wasn't enough for them.

Right.
For ethnic or political bias, many PDF members parrot the 'our own people' or 'political solution' lines when everyone knows that the demands of the terrorists is to acquire a large territory in which to impose 'Shariat'. Lots of negotiations have happened over the decades. They were even appeased by offering to let go the past and settle down to 'normal' life in Pakistan. And I know it was General Zia who created this very large hornets nest but he is dead for nearly four decades and he is rightly cursed for his actions. No point dwelling on a past. Time is to find solutions.

I think it would be a lengthy compaign. We cannot use fighters for an extended period as it's cost prohibitive. We need good drone coverage to take out HVTs.

Or the Pakistani state can explore the option of upgrading Wazirs to match Mehsuds.
