Btw, very curious to know the dimensions of the HHQ-9C. Looks like it might be able to fit the VLS on the Type 054A/P. If they match the diameter of the HQ-16FE, but are much lighter and use more modern propellant, range could be significantly improved alongside speed and capability to hit highly maneuverable targets like the Brahmos or its hypersonic follow on.

HHQ-9C seems to be china’s answer to the PAC 3 MSE. Probably my even has the lethality enhancer (a blast fragmentation warhead when the missiles close to the target to ensure it get a kill if the hit to kill is off).

This was the mid range missile I was saying Pakistan needs in numbers, along side the HQ-19/29, to counter the Indian upper end and medium end missile threat. We only have to look at how the PAC 3 MSE has been performing the last 3 years in conflicts around the world.

DF-5C — three parts of one missile on three separate vehicles

DF-5 ICBM family is powered by liquid bipropellant (UDMH fuel + N2H4 oxidiser) all based in climate control silos
🇨🇳 5A: since 1970's, single warhead (5 megaton), mod 1 ~12000 km, mod 2 ~15000 km
🇨🇳 5B: debut 2015, MiRV 3~12 warheads, ~16000 km
🇨🇳 5C: classified, likely FOBS

that explains why in the age of fast-launch solid fuel ICBM from land (31/41/61), air ( julang) and sea (Julang) PLA chooses to retain DF-5: HEAVYLIFT. And which implies FOBS capability, hence free to choose attack route other than Arctic

Not for ground attack but recon and other missions like US YQF-42/44 CCA 1.
Higher tier and looked exactly like the smaller J-36/J-50 are fully autonomous air superiority fighter drone, partner with six gen aircrafts.

While the UVLS is 850 mm in diameter. A diagonal dual packing could mean at most a diameter of 425 mm, but if it shares similar dimensions to the PAC-3 MSE Missile it may fit in the 340 mm of H/AKJ-16 VLS of the Type 054A? If it doesn’t, a smaller variant could be an option.

The PAC-3 MSE missile has a max intercept range of 120 km against aircraft, and has a length of 5.3 meters with a diameter of 290 mm and weight of just 318 kg.

The HQ-16FE has a length of 5.2 meters and a diameter of 340 mm with a max range of 160 km with a weight of 650 kg.

Based on the following quote, I expect the HHQ-9C to be larger (in length and diameter) than the PAC-3, but that tech could be applied to a smaller variant, IMHO.

On the other hand it would make an acquisition of the Type 052D by the PN even better, as the missile could be dual packed, effectively giving the ship up to 128 air defense fully capable (against hypersonics) missiles.
"The HHQ-9C shipborne air defense missile mainly counter attacks from high-altitude, high-speed and high-value anti-ship weapons such as ballistic missiles," military affairs expert Zhang Xuefeng told the Global Times. He said that modern anti-ship missiles tend to become hypersonic-capable, and the HHQ-9 could intercept them, with higher maritime antiballistic missile efficiency.

"As a long-range maritime air defense missile, the HHQ-9C's size is well controlled, so more of them can be fitted into Chinese warships' vertical launch systems, providing more munition reserves," Zhang said.

As a medium-range shipborne air defense missile, the HQ-16C could complement the HHQ-9C, Zhang said. Since the size of the HQ-16C is small, it can be loaded into vertical launch systems of frigates in large numbers and effectively intercept subsonic and supersonic anti-ship cruise missiles, he said.

The little sixth gen drone are still part of the next gen air combat eco system, the difference between the lower tier loyal wingman and the unmanned fighter I believed is semi auto and fully autonomous.
What is interesting here is USAF is seeking such capability with their CCA 2 project with no exact timeline mentioned as of yet, they just flew the semi auto YQF-42 CCA 1.

Intercontinental missiles currently in active service and publicly known:
DF5C
DF31AG, DF31BJ, DF41,(DF51), DF61,
JL-1
JL-2
JL-3
This doesn't even include the medium-range missiles with both nuclear and conventional capabilities like the DF-26, DF-21 series. The Americans themselves have nothing better to do than count beans, and they just keep adding a constant 100 to our nuclear arsenal each year regardless of whether it's reasonable or not
