Nanchang A-5
A-5C (A-5III)
1983—2011~55Used in the attack role but also performed combat air patrol duties.

42 A-5C ordered in May 1982.[41] First batch of 41 aircraft delivered in early 1983 to squadrons No. 7, 16 and 26, formally replaced remaining B-57 Canberra bombers of No. 7 squadron in December 1983.

Approximately 100 more aircraft equipping three more squadrons delivered by early 1987. Modified with Western avionics, Martin Baker ejection seats and other new systems, flyaway cost reported to be US$1 million.

Number reduced to around 42 aircraft by November 2000. Retirement of the type by 1997 and replacement with upgraded Mirage III/5 was planned during early 1990s but never implemented.

32 modifications made to Q-5IA to make A-5C/A-5III: upgraded avionics with stealth feature, Martin-Baker zero/zero ejection seat, modified hardpoints for compatibility with AIM-9 Sidewinder and other PAF weapons. 3 prototypes built before production.

Operated by Nos. 7, 16 and 26 Squadrons.[citation needed] Later modifications by Pakistan Aeronautical Complex include the installation of Pakistani laser altimeters developed in the late 1990s by ATCOP, Pakistani Head-Up Display combiner glasses and South African frequency-hopping radios. Fitted with PK10LV version of Martin-Baker Mk. 10 ejection seat.

Retired in April 2011 when No. 16 Black Panthers squadron was officially re-equipped with JF-17 multi-role fighter

A-5 (Q-5) is believed to be Pakistan’s first tactical nuclear strike delivery aircraft. Two fuel tanks and nuclear devices not so different from O-27 shown below. Obviously its not declared mostly speculated but believed to be true.

O-27 tactical N-bomb mounted on modified Q-5A. first operational N-bomb. Q-5A would fly at an altitude of 300m to avoid radar detection, about 12km before target would start 45° climb reaching altitude of 1,200m & release. It was developed for Soviets & mission was one way .

A Pakistan Air Force A-5C (year 2000). The A-5 is the export version of China's Nanchang Q-5. It is no longer in service with Pakistan's military - current operators include Sudan and Myanmar.

What are all the payload options available to the A-5C in Pakistani service?

I have seen photographic evidence for the Matra R.550 Magic and some form of Chinese 250 or 500-lb bombs.

But I have not seen any photographic evidence for the AIM-9 or which variant was employed, claimed Durandal Anti-Runway bombs, or American 500lb bombs. If someone could provide images for these that would be very helpful as I am trying to compile a list of loadout options and associated proof for the A-5C.
