Can someone confirm the news that China has started mass-producing DUV? Or is it the rehash story about EUV light sources?

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology officially announced the commercial production of DUV lithography machines two days ago. Today, the patents for EUV light sources and lithography equipment were revealed, and they were applied for on March 9, 2023.

This is china ws-10 moment sooner ws-15 will come to light.

China can also play the same game.
When China reduces semi import, who is going to buy all the chips the American fabs going to produce? China is the biggest importer/user of chips, I have no clue what those expensive American fabs will do 5 years from now. Maybe send them to Russia to fuel it's military industrial complex ;)

The supply bottleneck problem in the United States has been solved. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology officially announced that lithography machines of 8 nanometers and below have been solved. Looking at the video from a few years ago, Yu Chengdong’s words are so relieving. Neither impatient nor arrogant, neither arrogant nor arrogant, the girl has such a confident and charming smile, which is really warm and charming. She steadily tells the arrogant foreigners: We have it, but we will use yours. If you don't let us use it, we will use our own. , and the performance will be better. Just asking if you dare not to use it...

An expert said China still respects ASML's IPs. Otherwise China can produce most advanced DUV. Bypassing ASML's IPs is the difficult part. Once ASML follows US order to stop supplying parts and services to all sold lithography machines in China, which means ASML officially breaks contracts, China will not respect ASML's IPs and produce the parts by itself.

Whose ASML supposed to sell to then?

Zimbabwe? The mighty USA?? They don't have a lot of options china accounts for half Asml total sale. Too much at stake. They can try at the cost of bankruptcy good luck. Right now what china needs is time to ramp up production.

The future is bleak for tsmc,Intel, Asml I can already see what's ahead regardless of restrictions. Euv machine is china last hurdle once it's overcome then game over. It will go the way of solar panel industry. I can guarantee you because Chinese massive scale and price tag are unbeatable. US fabs will not be profitable and without Chinese market they can just recycle them or close down the fabs lol the US is not the world factory what's the point of having chips if no one wants them.

What they should've done is attracting foreign companies to invest and open fabs while not putting any restriction and continue to make a ton of money on china until it makes a move on Taiwan. The US pulled the plug too early it will come back to bite them

This news was officially published by Chinese government. This is middle class DUV. It can produce 14nm chips.

No, according to the published data, this is a dry lithography machine, and the limit of what it can produce should be 45nm chips.
The most important thing about this information is that it is clear that the 193nm wavelength ARF light source is fully mature and can be commercialized.
In fact, the manufacturing of 65nm, 45nm, 28nm, 14nm, and 7nm chips all use the 193nm wavelength ARF light source.
Of course, starting from 28nm, a pure water reflection immersion system is required, and 7NM requires multiple exposures, resulting in a decrease in yield.
If you can tolerate the increase in cost caused by the decrease in yield, through multiple exposures, the 193nm wavelength ARF light source can even produce 5NM chips.
As for EUV, it requires a 13.5NM light source, which is a completely different technology and has nothing to do with this machine.

No, this is completely wrong. The so-called overlay less than 8NM refers to the alignment accuracy when making 65NM chips, not the chip manufacturing process.
Please note that the overlay accuracy required to make 7NM chips is less than 2.5NM.
