Stupid game, you are using the drop tank to pretend to be the payload, the reason is that the range of the MIG29K without the drop tank is far less than that of the J-15.
Please remember that when the J-15 does not carry an auxiliary fuel tank, the internal fuel capacity is 9200kg.

Thankfully, french technology is much better. Trouble is I highly doubt Indian industry is even anywhere close to absorb anything that french might be willing to transfer. India only recently started to use plans of Bofors guns it got in late 80s / early 90s for making even artillery pieces locally.

Thats the standard of Indian industrial base.

That’s why I think it will take 30 years. It’s not fully the French industries reluctant to sell the tech, that is always there, but it’s Indian industries ability to absorb the tech. A whole generation will have to be brought up in French tech for the ToT to work.
