The government cracked down earlier on other Islamist groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Muhammad after pressure from the Financial Action Task Force, a global watchdog against terror financing.

This is incorrect. Lashkar Taiba is the new favourite, they are Saudia backed so automatically become Pakistan ally in the current environment, they are spreading fast in AJK to tackle the ethnic nationalists, and also same in Pakistan to tackle TTP types, they operate under Jamat Dawah and other names. Currently their throats are screaming Pakistan zindabad due to a chance of becoming the state new favourites, all until when international big players will want Jolani type in Pakistan and we will be back to square one. Jaish Mohammad is also operating.

Oh.....well....now that you mention it......I guess there's nothing that can be done about these laws, that were enacted by the British under pressure from the Mullahs of the time, and we must keep killing innocent people, based on anti-Islamic fake decrees, in extrajudicial public lynchings. Never mind the bearded and non-bearded rabid rats that pop up at every single one of them 78 years after the colonists left. Or the fact that the death penalty and life imprisonment were added in the 80s based on laughably falsified religious edicts, as later admitted by the prosecutor who presented them as evidence.

No one has any right to curb anyone from publishing, questioning, saying, or expressing anything as long as it doesn't bring material harm to anyone else, as per religion and common sense. I have no insecurities about my religion or its ability to defend itself against any words....mostly because I don't fake my belief in it or the knowledge of it to only use it as a crutch against my insecurities. It has done perfectly well with over 1400 years of heated public debates with Non-Muslims in Muslim lands and without these laws or the liability that are Pakistanis.

I don't care who does it, the blasphemy laws are a stain on Islam and Muslims. They have turned Pakistan into a joke that no other Muslim country wants to emulate. Even in places like KSA and Iran, where Sharia is encoded in public life, no such horrendous mobs operate under the cover of blasphemy laws. Good for the General and for Pakistanis if he does something about it.

In Pakistan all laws are misused, even rape laws are misused and the innocents then rot in jails. The blasphemy laws aim was to stop blasphemy against holy personalities but unfortunately idiots misuse it, same with all other laws, only the poor face the wrath meanwhile the elite and corrupt are enjoying life.

Just something for you guys to think about. Normally to sort out the misuse of blasphemy law, murder laws, robbery laws, rape laws, corruption laws, people would suggest create a highly trained special agency and fast track courts to sort this out, this is to show the people of Pakistan the law enforcement agency will take action and deliver justice. But the issue is the authorities or elites will then on purpose and by some grand plan will misuse the special agency and courts. For example anti terrorism courts were created to prosecute terrorists but these days everyone is being prosecuted through these courts, complete misuse of laws, the same way when Gen Raheel Sharif legalised military courts for civilians i remember Asif Zardari said it is a sad day in Pakistan history and we all criticised Zardari, but in reality he was speaking the truth, the same military courts if existed today will be prosecuting and hanging students for throwing stones. This is the sad reality of Pakistan, those in power misuse the laws and the awaam and mullahs do the same, make up fake stories and 1000 fake eye witnesses will be ready to testify aswell. Unfortunately no cure for this for now, maybe another 3 generations.
