Bill Unveiled To Ban TikTok From U.S. Unless Company Makes Massive Changes

There are legitimate fears that TikTok is a tool used by China for many nefarious purposes. Let's be real, it has a 101 use cases if the data it generates is exploited by the Chinese.

The US already knows the power social media apps have on populations because it itself has heavily used such apps for its own global ambitions. Arab Spring and how Twitter (and other apps) were used to propel it.

And the US has every right to be smart enough to not fall into the same trap that other gullible nations did when they gave a free pass to foreign companies to have at it, like Pakistan did/does.

Simple videos of naval ships/assets posted online by gullible citizens can be easily used by the Intelligence communities to keep track of such assets. And this is just 1 use case...

The US already does it and it doesn't want others to do such stuff on American soil.

This's more than just about "freedom", this is about National Security. Some nations like Pakistan might not take National Security seriously, others like India & US do. Sad truth (depending on which side you are or not).

Next week, they're supposed to vote in the House. Then it's gotta go through the Senate where there might be some hiccups. Biden says he'll sign the bill. Here's hoping and keeping my fingers crossed that everything gets approved in the next few weeks. Biden, please put an end to this mess ASAP! 🙏

US House to vote next week on TikTok crackdown bill

This only works when posters are using Huawei phones since only Huawei phones contain the mind control chip compelling citizens to post such information. That is why smart citizens only post such videos on All-American media channels like YouTube.

The US government has advised that Chinese mind control devices can be neutralized by wearing a tin foil hat and eating an apple pie while using any Chinese product.

The US government is conducting studies to determine if Chinese food poses a national security threat. General Tso's chicken is a prime suspect.

"Hahahaha"

You act like Huawei phones won't be collecting data either. If Iphones can have backdoors for the CIA, then so can Chinese phones for the MSS.

Again, the US is no fool. It takes things seriously to keep and establish its dominant global position, especially against a rising power known for its history of stealing IP, intellectual property.

You moved the topic from Tiktok to Huawei and then to Chinese foods, among other issues, pretty quickly. I won't be responding to such far topic facts/ideas.

Most people believe that backdoors are software but there are hardware backdoors as well. In other words, you engineer the electronics to copy and divert signals independent of whatever software installed. We already do similar things in semicon manufacturing where if one die fails, the controller will divert to redundant arrays. It is not that difficult for Huawei to engineer their products, from cell phones to other appliances, to contact Chinese servers without the user(s) aware of the operations.

I mean, what the hey...

Johnie Lee shared a screenshot of his machine's data usage, which showed around 3.6GB of daily data usage.

Granted, this was a washing machine, but why not a router copying the owner's traffic to location(s) unknown? Not difficult at all.

Lol free market capitalists whinging when they're losing.

Absolutely correct.

I never took much interest or any classes regarding ECE (Electrical & Computer Engineering) while in Uni so my knowledge in this regard is limited but I can properly read/interpret/understand the ocean of information coming out of such fields.

If I'm not wrong, there was a news article among many, months/years ago about Chinese hardware imported to the US being modified outside of the parameters of the schematics/blueprints to include hardware which could be used for espionage had it not been detected.

Software stands on the backbone which's Hardware. So you're right that modifications must be made within the hardware first, at least should be or can be made without touching the software aspects.

Lol free market capitalists whinging when they're losing.

There hasn't been a loss declared yet. We're not in school where a teacher/professor hands out grades. 😂

This is merely a set of precautions taken by serious policy makers. The same "serious policy makers" which're currently extinct in Pakistan. :ROFLMAO:

We all know Pakistani policy makers don't even know what "transistors" are, let alone know the vast pools of data that their own country men and women are sending abroad daily to Google (US), X (Twitter; India) & TikTok (China).

There are plenty of public info about post import modifications of appliances.

“Specifically, upon gaining an initial foothold into a target network and gaining administrator access to network edge devices, BlackTech cyber actors often modify the firmware to hide their activity across the edge devices to further maintain persistence in the network,” officials wrote in Wednesday’s advisory. “To extend their foothold across an organization, BlackTech actors target branch routers—typically smaller appliances used at remote branch offices to connect to a corporate headquarters—and then abuse the trusted relationship of the branch routers within the corporate network being targeted. BlackTech actors then use the compromised public-facing branch routers as part of their infrastructure for proxying traffic, blending in with corporate network traffic, and pivoting to other victims on the same corporate network.”
To install their modified bootloader, the US and Japanese advisory said, the threat actors install an older version of the legitimate firmware and then modify it as it runs in memory. The technique overrides signature checks in the Cisco ROM monitor signature validation functions, specifically functions of Cisco’s IOS Image Load test and the Field Upgradeable ROMMON Integrity test. The modified firmware, which consists of a Cisco IOS loader that installs an embedded IOS image, allows the compromised routers to make connections over SSH without being recorded in event logs.

I learned some about SIGINT from when I was active duty and it goes this way...

Take this sentence: We are having a great time at Disneyland. Eight words.

How many words does a burglar needs? We, at, and Disneyland. Three words.

I do not care if you are having a 'great time' or not. I just need to know 'Disneyland' because that location requires you to be there at least three days. I can burgles your house in that time.

Same thing with copying info. I do not need to copy and divert everything you do on your cell phone to my storage. Just %30-40 will be enough for me to deduce, not guess, the rest of your activities. We can hardware engineer the electronics to recognize certain voltage signatures and do 'something' with them, completely transparent to the OS and what else installed.

The argument/defense that Huawei cannot do these hidden things is ludicrous. If it can be done, the CPC will order it to be done.

  • Elon Musk said he agrees with Donald Trump's opposition to a potential TikTok ban.
  • Trump believes that a TikTok ban would benefit Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg who he called "Zuckerschmuck."
  • A newly-introduced bipartisan bill could lead to the banning of TikTok in the US.

Lmao here comes another Chinese user hiding behind 1 or 2 false flags with an inflammatory title.

Trump himself would support the TikTok ban the day "Zuckerschmuck" makes a deal with Trump. :ROFLMAO:

This is just another day in the US because unlike China, the US citizens can talk/debate/argue freely.

If Jack Ma says something remotely inflammatory, he gets thrown into the CCP's "reeducation" camp. Forget about the general public which'll probably be flogged. :ROFLMAO:

Different countries different rules. Billionaire with an agenda and politics must not mix.

ByteDance should be forced to divest TikTok. I will never download TikTok until it’s free from CCP control
But you have no problem about cIA having back door in the very device you are using right now.. - and snooping on you

Are you working for Temu? I couldn't care less how cheap their products are I'm not broke, so splurging a few extra bucks and buying from Amazon isn't an issue for me. You go ahead and shop at garbage Tamu, but count me out. Who knows what's lurking in those Chinese junk products probably bugged to the brim with surveillance devices in every gadget.
Don’t flatter yourself, you think Chinese would want want to snoop on you , they got better things to do..

Different countries different rules. Billionaire with an agenda and politics must not mix.

They already do everywhere on Earth including China.

Top Chinese politicians might be/not be billionaires but they definitely have standards of living which no normal Chinese or CCP worker does.

Same goes for the US, Russian, Indian or Pakistani top politicians.
