On April 12, two models of the Baojun Yep Plus were officially launched in China, priced at 93,800 yuan (12,900 USD) and 103,800 yuan (14,300 USD), respectively. The Plus is a larger variant of the original smaller 3-door Baojun Yep. Baojun is a brand under the SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture.

Positioned as a small pure electric SUV that sits on the Tianyu architecture, the Baojun Yep Plus measures 3996/1760/1726 mm, with a 2560 mm wheelbase. Its laden ground clearance is 150 mm, turning radius is 5.35 m, and curb weight is 1325 kg. Power comes from a front-mounted single motor that outputs 75 kW and 180 Nm, paired with a 41.9 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack supplied by Guoxuan High-Tech. Its top speed is 150 km/h and the CLTC range is 401 km. Both fast and slow chargings are supported. Under fast charging, it takes 35 minutes to replenish the battery from 30% to 80%. Four driving modes are also supported: economy+, economy, standard, and sports.
Furthermore, the Baojun Yep Plus continues the design of the Baojun Yep, adopting the “Square Box+” design language with five doors and a four-seater layout, giving an off-road vibe. The closed front face is decorated with black panels and is equipped with LED headlights on both sides.

Other notable design elements include a suspended roof, roof luggage racks, 16-inch double five-spoke rims, and round retro taillights. Additionally, the original external box design at the rear is cancelled. Instead, the Baojun logo is added in the center of the rear. The tailgate still maintains a side-opening design, with an internal volume of 12 L, and can support a rear small table.
Five exterior colors are available.

Inside, the cockpit has a three-spoke steering wheel, an 8.8-inch full LCD instrument panel, and a 10.1-inch floating central control car screen. The center console has a cup holder and a wireless charging pad for mobile phones.

As a Plus model, there are 28 storage spaces throughout the interior and the trunk provides a standard 385 L of storage space. After the rear seats are folded down, the maximum trunk volume can be expanded to 1715 L. Moreover, the front headroom is 1043 mm, the rear headroom is 1061 mm, the front legroom is 913 mm, and the rear legroom is 870 mm.

Today Baojun launched its Yue Plus car which is the first car on the company’s new Tianyu architecture. At the launch event the company outlined more details about the architecture which provides 3 major platforms S, M and D and also gave the first details about two new SUVs set to launch later this year.

Baojun like parent company Wuling is probably best known for small and micro cars but the architecture provides platforms for everything from micro to large cars and integrates electrification and intelligence.
Covering the 2500-3500 mm range the S platform is for micro cars. Baojun claims it is a platform for vehicles designed to meet the needs of young people with personality with the core uses of commuting, and socializing. There is an emphasis on being easy to drive and fun.

Next up is the M platform for what Baojun classifies as mainstream medium-sized EVs however judging from the size range of 3500-4600 mm these would be small to compact cars using anyone else’s language. Target market for such cars are budget conscious young families who need enough space, range, storage and power for needs such as picking up and dropping off children, short trips from the city, and shopping. Based on the size of the Yep Plus we can assume that it uses the M platform.

Finally there is the D platform and it seems that Baojun had run out of stories before it got to this one just saying that it is for family cars with a wider range of car use scenarios! The platform covers the relatively narrow 4600-5000 mm range.
Two new models were announced and both use the D platform. Firstly there will be a five-seat intelligent SUV to be launched in the third quarter of 2024 and following on from this in the fourth quarter a large six-seat intelligent SUV.

Baojun started life as a new brand under Wuling in 2010 with sales beginning in 2011. Cars were initially cobbled together from the General Motors parts bin, Wuling is a joint venture with GM having 44% ownership, SAIC 50.1% and the remainder under the actual Wuling company. Baojun now only produces small EVs although it formerly also produced ICE cars up to about mid-size.

Today Chery unveiled the iCar V23 which will then be shown at the Beijing Auto Show later this month before opening pre-sales in the second half of the year. The car is the second in the Chery iCar range and this time is jointly created with Xiaomi subsidiary Smartmi, also known as Zhimi Technology. Also shown was the new iCar X25 concept.

Chery’s iCar V23 is positioned as a small all electric hard core looking SUV with a square box shape for young people. Measuring in at 4220, 1915 and 1845 mm (l/w/h) and a wheelbase of 2730 mm it is smaller than the iCar 03.
Although quite similar in style to the iCar 03 the iCar V23 is more rugged looking. One distinctive feature is the large solid C pillar which surely can’t do much for visibility. Also notable is the box which Chinese media refer to as a ‘school bag’ on the side opening tailgate. This is a further storage compartment and it can only be accessed from inside the car.

Powering intelligent driving the car has a Horizon Robotics J3 chip and a Texas Instruments TDA4 chip. Sensors include four millimeter wavelength radars along with an 8MP front-view camera and 3MP surround view cameras giving what Chery refer to as L2++ intelligent driving capability.
The car comes in both rear wheel and all-wheel drive versions. Chinese media are claiming the car has an 80 kWh CATL battery but are confusingly saying that the single motor version has 400 km range while the dual motor has 500 km! Most likely the single motor version will have a smaller battery.
There’s a choice of 19 or 21-inch wheels. Rear wheel drive versions have an approach angle of 42° and departure angle 40° while ground clearance is 206 mm, for four wheel drive versions the numbers are 43°, 41° and 212 mm respectively.

Inside the Chery iCar V23 has a lot of rounded corners and notably has some prominent dials and buttons under the central touchscreen. These seem to largely control the AC. Powering the cockpit is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip and the HMI will be 3D.

iCar X25​

Also shown today was the iCar X25 which is being called a one-box off-road MPV. This is a range-extended vehicle but whether the iCar X25 will amount to anything more than a concept remains to be seen. It is meant to embody the concept of maximizing space and optimizing energy efficiency and seems to blur the distinction between an MPV and SUV.

iCar Plans​

The brand aims to have 300 experience centers and 500 delivery centers by 2025 increasing to 500 and 1000 respectively by 2027. During March 5,487 iCar 03 were sold and so far 10,000 have been assembled. Cars received the first OTA on April 6.

GAC, the Chinese automaker, hosted the 2024 GAC Technology Day with the theme “Vision of Technology” in Guangzhou on April 12th. The tech-focused event introduced the first domestically developed image-based autonomous driving solution, the Garcia Intelligent Driving System, and a “high-security, high-capacity” solid-state power battery.

The Garcia Intelligent Driving System is a domestically developed image-based autonomous driving solution that eliminates the need for high-precision maps and relies less on LiDAR. It combines visual sensors with AI algorithms to provide users with a comprehensive, all-scenario driving experience. The system is said to excel in complex traffic situations, traffic signal recognition, handling dynamic scenarios, and making accurate driving decisions and actions in real time. This technology is similar to what Tesla is developing in its FSD autonomous driving program. GAC plans to deploy the Garcia system for mass production in 2026. Earlier this month it was announced that GAC Aion teamed up with Didi to build robotaxis. Furthermore, it was reported last month that BYD, Xpeng, and GAC Aion would use Nvidia chips as part of their autonomous driving tech stack.

In addition to intelligent driving, GAC showcased its “breakthrough” in solid-state power batteries. GAC reported that their self-developed solid-state battery “achieved significant energy density, safety, and manufacturing technology advancements. With the utilization of third-generation sponge silicon negative electrode plate technology and high-capacity solid-state positive electrode technology, GAC Aion successfully improved the battery’s energy density.” Solid-state batteries offer the potential to overcome the limitations of traditional liquid electrolyte batteries and have become a focal point in the global power battery competition.


The development of solid-state batteries is crucial for the future of electric vehicles and GAC aims to fully roll out this technology by 2026. With higher energy density, these batteries can provide longer driving ranges and shorter charging times, making electric vehicles more practical and convenient for everyday use. Solid-state batteries offer improved safety as they are less prone to overheating and lower the risk of fire or explosion than traditional lithium-ion batteries.

From winning multiple WTCR titles (with the Lynk & Co 03 TCR) to a once-pioneering premium brand in the Chinese car market, Lynk & Co is finally gearing up for an electrified future with a new flagship sedan.

The new flagship vehicle, codename E371, is a pure electric sedan that measures approximately 5 meters in length, 2 meters in width, and has a 3-meter wheelbase. It falls into the same category as Zeekr 001 and Avatr 12. We must note that the original Lynk & Co Zero concept from 4 years ago became what we know as the Zeekr 001 today. Geely Auto owns Zeekr, and Lynk & Co is co-owned by Geely Auto and Volvo.

From the spy shots, the new Zero will adopt the latest design language from the Lynk & Co EM-P family. While the new Zero’s headlights continue with Lynk & Co’s iconic design of separate daytime running lights, the side profile reminds us of the Lotus Emeya. Geely also owns Lotus. The rear design complements the front with a similar style to the Lynk & Co 07 EM-P PHEV, featuring a continuous taillight strip. The new Zero is a sedan with an electrified rear spoiler.

The new Lynk & Co Zero will be built on the same SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) platform as the Zeekr 001. Although little is known, we may assume the car houses a powertrain similar to its Zeekr counterpart. The dual-motor all-wheel-drive will have a combined power of 580 kW and a range of up to 656 km. Zero will be based on the 800V platform used on the Zeekr 001.

It is rumored that the top trim of the new Zero will house quad motors with four-wheel steering. If this is true, a five-link rear suspension will provide more space for rear-wheel steering, potentially translating to a higher level of comfort for the passengers. The motors themselves need to be compact and lightweight to optimize space utilization.

The Zeekr 001 FR with quad-motors has 1,247 hp and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.07 seconds. Based on this data, the new Lynk & Co. Zero is potentially another 2-second car to hit the market, faster than the Xiaomi SU7 Max at 2.78 seconds.
Earlier this year, Toyota Chairman Akio Toyoda claimed that EV sales would be capped at around 30% of all new vehicle sales globally. In China, the largest car market in the world, EV sales have already reached 31.1% during the first quarter of 2024. With China’s growing charging network and cheap electricity prices, EV sales are unlikely to slow down.
From April 2023 to March 2024, Lynk & Co sold 226,980 accumulated units in Mainland China, while Zeekr only sold 136,510 accumulated units. Zeekr has focused on developing new EVs like the Zeekr 001, 007, 009, and X. Lynk & Co, primarily focusing on PHEVs.
Next month, the Lynk & Co Zero will be revealed in Gothenburg, Sweden, with an official launch expected around the middle of 2024. The expected price range is around 200,000 yuan (27,600 USD) to 300,000 yuan (41,450 USD). With the introduction of Lynk & Co Zero, the sales gap between Lynk & Co and Zeekr, the sister companies, may widen even further.

Furthermore, in March, 1.690 million passenger vehicles were sold in China, a year-on-year increase of 6.2% and a month-on-month increase of 53.1%, contributing to a total of 4.829 million vehicles sold in the first quarter, a year-on-year increase of 13.1%, according to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA). Among them, the sales volume of sedans was 780,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 2.4%; MPVs were 94,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 5.6%; and SUVs were 816,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 11.8%.
Additionally, in the new energy vehicle (NEV) market, 709,000 NEVs were sold in March, a year-on-year increase of 29.5% and a month-on-month increase of 82.5%. At the same time, 120,000 NEVs were exported, a year-on-year increase of 70.9% and a month-on-month increase of 52.8%.

This is the 2024 Haval Raptor Hi4 plug-in hybrid hard-core off-road SUV. The official unveil may be at the Beijing Auto Show later this month. Earlier, Haval’s general manager, Zhao Yongpo, said that the new car has been optimized based on the suggestions from its users.

The size of the new car has not yet been announced. For reference, the current Haval Raptor measures 4800/1916/1822 mm, and the wheelbase is 2738 mm. Based on its name, the 2024 Haval Raptor Hi4 is likely to be powered by Great Wall Motor’s Hi4 plug-in hybrid system composed of a 1.5T engine and dual motors, mated to a 2-speed DHT.

Two new exterior colors will be offered: Storm Yellow and Ink Jiangnan Gray.

In terms of appearance, the overall design of the new car remains largely unchanged. The front face is decorated with a three-stripe grille and is inlaid with the English Haval logo. Additionally, the bottom silver thick bumper further enhances the off-road attributes of the 2024 Haval Raptor Hi4. At the rear, the taillight group still adopts a round and rectangular design, which is highly recognizable when lit up. The “Hi-4 Haval Raptor” logo is also embedded in the lower right corner.

The 2024 Haval Raptor Hi4 will add a new interior color option. Otherwise, the interior design also continues that of the current model. At this time, it has not been officially announced whether the vehicle configuration will be upgraded. In terms of assisted driving, the current Haval Raptor is equipped with 11 sensors and adopts a fusion solution of camera and radar, enabling L2 advanced driving assistance functions including adaptive cruise control and lane keeping.

Chery’s Exeed brand will begin pre-sales of the new Star Era ET crossover in China. reports Automatic home.
The electric car is built on the new Chery E0X platform. The length of the crossover is 4955 mm, the wheelbase is 3000 mm. According to China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the car will have a dual-motor all-wheel drive system. The power of the front electric motor reaches 249 hp, and the rear electric motor reaches 312 hp. The total power of the transitional power plant can exceed 500 hp.

Nio revealed official images of the new 2024 model year ET7 sedan. It will start pre-sales on April 16 with a revised interior. The 2024 Nio ET7 will offer new seats, a heads-up display, two more screens, and other comfy upgrades.

The Nio ET7 was launched back in 2021. In three years, its cumulative sales reached 29,815 cars. The ET7 saw the peak sales volume in June 2022 with over 4,000 models sold. However, it lost momentum in 2023 selling less than a thousand cars per month. Reasons for the declining demand are the Chinese price war and the emergence of new high-end cars from other car makers. So, Nio eagerly wants to boost the ET7 sales with the 2024 update.

2024 Nio ET7​


The 2024 Nio ET7 hasn’t changed much in terms of exterior styling. It added a new silver color and unique 21-inch wheels with Michelin Sport EV tires. Its dimensions remained unchanged with length, width and height of 5101 mm, 1987 mm, and 1509 mm, respectively. The wheelbase of the new ET7 is also the same at 3060 mm.


Most notable changes are inside the 2024 Nio ET7. It added a new brown interior shade. According to Nio, they’ve also added soft materials to the upper part of the instrument panel and redesigned the HUD module. They have also improved the visibility of the front windshield by optimizing the forward sensing hardware module by 7%.
One of the 2024 Nio ET7’s main features is new seats, similar to the upcoming Nio ET9. The front-row seats can be electrically adjusted in 18 ways. Their backrest can tilt up to 82 degrees. The second-row seats have 14-way electric adjustment. Their backrest can be adjusted from 27 degrees to 37 degrees. They also offer five massage modes.
Another feature of the second row is two 14.5-inch OLED 3K screens. It supports a multi-screen function with the Nio Phone. The multimedia system of the ET7 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip. One more upgrade of the 2024 Nio ET7 is the acoustic system. It has the same amount of speakers (23), but its power was boosted to 2230 W.

The powertrain of the 2024 Nio ET7 remained unchanged, with dual-motor 4WD for 480 kW. It supports three battery options: 75 kWh, 100 kWh and 150 kWh. The last option is the semi-solid state battery, which will become available as a service later.

The IM L6 will officially launch on May 13 with deliveries beginning by the end of May. Despite some Chinese media still claiming that the L6 is the first car to go on sale with a solid state battery we now know that the battery is not fully solid state.

Although claimed as having the first 900V ultra-fast charging solid-state battery the electrolyte is not fully solid. An electrolyte carries ions (the charged particles) between the battery’s two electrodes. We now know that although the Lightyear battery in the Lightyear Max version of the L6 has some solid material it is not completely solid unlike what is being claimed for solid state batteries from GAC and also Toyota which are currently not expected until 2026 and 2027 respectively.
Pre-sale prices for the L6 range from 230,000-330,000 yuan (31,750-45,600 USD) with three announced models. Length, width and height of the new car are 4931/1960/1474 mm, and the wheelbase is 2950 mm. The design is strongly in line with existing IM Motors models and the L6 has a coupe style shape. Interestingly the car is actually a hatchback rather than a true sedan, a style generally not very popular in China which might indicate it has been designed with European exports in mind.

The IM L6 is not a car for those who like physical buttons with dashboard acreage purely given over to screens. On top you have a 26.3-inch screen and where the dash marries the center console there is a further 10.5-inch touchscreen. Drivers get a half spoke steering wheel when seems more IM logo than anything else.

A self-developed “Hurricane motor” with a maximum speed of 21,000 rpm powers the IM L6 although it is not clear whether this is just for the dual motor versions. Single motor versions come with a maximum power of 216 kW while the dual motor has motors of 200 kW and 379 kW respectively which take the acceleration figure down to below three seconds.
Top of the range Lightyear Max versions of the IM L6 will get the 130 kWh semi-solid state battery which is promised to give the car a range of over 1000 km CLTC. Other versions will come with either a 90 or 100 kWh NCM battery from CATL. When officially launched there are likely to be at least four versions of the car on sale rather than the three announced during pre-sales judging from previously declared ranges for the car.

During the pre-sales event IM Motors made a lot of claims about the L6 versus the Xiaomi SU7 and obviously sees the car as a major competitor. Unfortunately some of the information to do with the SU7 power module was wrong and IM has faced a huge backlash from Xiaomi fans and others as a result. Cyber attacks subsequently targeted live broadcast rooms of IM Motors, the official IM account and the broadcast rooms of dealers.
