Chinese automaker Chery announced that it will introduce its new flagship crossover Tiggo series at the Beijing Auto Show. This was reported by the press service of the Chinese automaker. The event starts on April 25.
It is stated that the crossover will be the flagship of the brand’s model series. The automaker added that the car “uses next-generation driving modes and advanced technologies for environmentally friendly travel.”
Owners of Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max crossovers before this reported for the operation of the four-wheel drive system. For some owners it was closed during operation. Problems began to appear after the replacement of German ZF or American BorgWarner components with the Chinese Faps clutch and 3LN control unit. Chery is aware of the problem and in the near future they will invite Tiggo 8 Pro Max owners who are faced with the strangeness of all-wheel drive to dealers to solve the problem.
Previously named Chinese crossovers with mileage have become more expensive.

M-Hero revealed pictures of the upcoming M-Hunter extreme SUV before its debut at Auto China 2024 in Beijing next week. The company teased the electric car as a super-luxurious SUV for global off-road enthusiasts.

M-Hero is a brand under state-owned Dongfeng that focuses on opulent electric SUVs. It is nicknamed China’s Hummer because M-Hero started to gain popularity by launching civilian versions of military vehicles – mainly the M50 ICE pickup truck. M-Hunter will be its second electric car after the M-Hero 917, launched in August of last year with 1,088 horsepower.

917 is available as a BEV and EREV. The BEV has a 505 km CLTC range, while the EREV has a 1,032 combined range and starts at 637,700 yuan (88,000 USD). The BEV version has an NMC battery from CATL with a capacity of 140 kWh. Despite the massive curb weight of 3,293 kg, the 800 kW of power motors provide 0-100 km/h acceleration in 4.2 seconds.

The EREV version has 600 kW (816 horsepower) motors mated with 1.5 liter ICE, which is not connected to the wheels and works as a power generator for the battery. The battery is again from CATl, but capacity is reduced to 66 kWh.
The 917 is set for global markets and launch in the Middle East and European Union. The car landed in Switzerland in early April, and test drives were conducted in Czechia.

Dongfeng announced that the M-Hunter is not a concept but will make it to mass production, and the car can be seen since April 25 in Beijing in hall W1. It will also not be a cheap car, with a price of over 1 million yuan (140,000 USD), the M-Hunter will compete with Hummer EV and BYD’s YangWang U8.

It will be interesting to see the real car next week because the released pictures are computer-generated renderings. Also, the production version will need some homologation-wise adjustments. We will keep an eye on it.

BYD revealed the existence of its upcoming Denza Z9 GT flagship in early April and shared the first pictures of the electric station wagon driving in Stuttgart, Germany, covered in typical Denza camouflage, together with videos from winter testing.

On April 15, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) reported that BYD applied for market homologation of the Denza Z9 GT, revealing the EV’s specifications and pictures of the production version. No car without MIIT approval can be sold in China, and the ministry publishes the list monthly. Automakers are not happy about this, as it reveals pictures, specs, and other secrets of cars they haven’t yet launched. But we don’t mind.

Denza Z9 GT is a large 5-seater, nearly 5.2 meters long. Its exact dimensions are 5180/1990/1500 mm, and its wheelbase is 3125 mm. It comes with a panoramic canopy and an electric rear wing.

The EV is powered by three electric motors with a combined output of 710 kW (952 hp). One e-motor in front has a power of 230 kW, and two e-motors in the rear have a power of 240 kW each. Denza Z9 GT is a heavy car with a curb weight of 2,875 kg. The top speed is capped at 240 km/h.


BYD’s LFP Blade battery will power Z9 GT, but the capacity hasn’t been revealed yet. The EV will feature lidar and carbon fiber decorative exterior parts.
Denza is a former 50:50 joint venture between BYD and Mercedes-Benz, which Mercedes left in December 2021, diluting its stake to 10%. Since then, Denza has launched three new EVs: the D9 minivan and N7 and N8 crossovers. Z9 GT will be its fourth EV.

Editor’s comment​

The EV will be launched by the end of the year and will come to Europe in 2025. Despite Mercedes still holding 10% in the Denza, there is no information about its participation in the Denza Z9 GT. In some older models, Denza cars featured the “Styled by Mercedes” badge, and Mercedes reportedly did some work on the interior design. Still, Mercedes didn’t announce any of this on recent Denza models.
BYD announced that Z9 GT will go global. It will compete with the Porsche Panamera or Geely’s Zeekr 001.

At one time the Haval H6 was China’s best selling SUV, while it’s now pushed down the rankings it is still a very important car for Great Wall Motor and is the company’s best selling Haval model. The refresh is obviously as attempt to keep the car current seeing as the last significant refresh was only last year.

Thanks to the those kind people at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) we know that the car is being classified, at least by them, as a refresh of the third generation H6 which first went on sale in 2020. There are however some significant differences the biggest being the car is now 50 mm longer with a length of 4703 mm. The other major difference as seen in the latest teaser pictures released today is the new face for the car.

Last year’s refresh saw the original large grille swapped out for a more enclosed face, this year see’s a big grille return along with prominent light strips extending down from the headlights. At the rear the car no longer has through strip lights returning to the more traditional light cluster arrangement. In 2023 the car was the sixth best selling SUV in China with sales of 226,024 and Great Wall obviously hopes to maintain that with the refresh.

Powertrains are expected to remain broadly the same with a choice of a 1.5T engine with 135 kW power matched with a 7-speed wet dual clutch gearbox or a 170 kW 2.0T also matched to a 7-speed dual clutch unit. In addition there should be both hybrid and PHEV versions available. Exports are likely with the car currently being sold in various developing markets in Asia along with South Africa and Australia.

The facelift version of the Haval H6 will likely be shown to the public at the Beijing Auto Show next week with sales commencing later this year. With sales of the third generation having started in 2020 this is probably the last facelift before the fourth generation Haval H6 appears.

Earlier in March, Geely Galaxy announced its first pure electric SUV called “E5”. Recently, the new car was declared on the latest batch of the Chinese MIIT and is expected to enter the market in May with an approximate price range of 150,000 – 200,000 yuan (20,700 – 27,600 USD). The E5 is Geely Galaxy’s fourth model after the L7, L6, and E8.


The design of the Geely Galaxy E5 is inspired by the universe, pursuing traces of light and natural rhythms, according to the brand. Currently, it’s reported that both the left and right-hand drive models are being developed and tested at the same time, and will be exported to the overseas market. Positioned as a compact SUV, the size of the Geely Galaxy E5 is 4615/1901/1670 mm, and the wheelbase is 2750 mm.
Power comes from an electric motor model TZ184XY101 produced by InfiMotion (无锡星驱动力科技有限公司) with a maximum power of 160 kW, paired with lithium iron phosphate battery packs supplied by SVOLT Energy Technology Co., Ltd. The detailed battery and range specifications have not been revealed at this time.

According to the declaration information, the Geely Galaxy E5 also provides optional front bumper, rear radar, black external mirrors, headlights, black brand logo, different styles of front windshields, black decorative strips on window frames, black luggage racks, rims, a front radar, and sunroof designs.
Furthermore, there are two tire options: 225/55R18 and 235/50R19.
On February 19, Geely CEO, Gan Jiayue, announced that Geely Galaxy plans to launch three new energy vehicles this year, including one plug-in hybrid model and two pure electric models. The plug-in hybrid model may be the Geely Galaxy L5, which is expected to launch in the second quarter of this year. In March, the brand sold 10,185 vehicles, a month-on-month increase of 11.7%, making Geely Galaxy’s cumulative sales 38,528 vehicles from January to March this year.

Thanks to the kind folks at a government ministry we now have uncamouflaged pictures of the Neta S wagon plus the all-important specs. The Neta S is a wagon which will come in both all electric and range extended versions and ride on Neta’s new Shanhai Platform 2.0.

With the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) publishing declaration listings for the Neta S wagon today we now know that the car is indeed close to production and release. A debut at the Beijing Auto Show next week is almost certain with sales likely commencing around the middle of this year.
Although there are four separate filings for the Neta S in the MIIT information all versions have exactly the same dimensions with length of 4980 mm and a wheelbase of 2980 mm. Width and height are 1980 and 1480 mm respectively giving the car quite a sporty stance. The listings consist of two each for the range extended (EREV) and full EV versions.

EREV versions are 1960 and 1970 kg. Strangely the 1.5 liter engine used in the Neta S wagon is less powerful than in the range extended versions of the Neta S sedan dropping from 85 kW down to 70 kW. According to previously reported information it is a new 1.5 liter Atkinson cycle engine matched to a flat-wire generator. Reportedly the conversion rate will be 3.26 kWh/l. The electric motor though is more powerful than in the Neta S sedan with 200 kW of power supplying the rear axle.
Pure electric versions weigh in at 1960 and 2160 kg with the higher figure for the dual motor version. Both use the same 200 kW electric motor as in the EREV version with the dual motor model adding a 170 kW motor to the front axle. This differs from the 250 kW silicon carbide all-in-one motor that was previously reported to be used in the car.

Battery capacities are not yet known but lower spec versions of both the EREV and EV get lithium iron phosphate batteries while higher spec versions of both have NCM chemistry batteries.

Cars gain five spoke wheels with choices of 19 and 20-inch wheels. Brake calipers come in a choice of gray, green or red. Higher spec versions gain a roof-mounted Lidar unit.

Chery’s Exeed brand commenced pre-sales of its Exlantix ET model, known as the Sterra ET in the Chinese market, on April 15th. It was announced last month that this model would begin sales in April. This medium-to-large SUV is built on Chery’s E0X high-end electric platform and offers both a pure electric version and an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) version (see price specs below).

The Exlantix ET has dimensions of 4955/1975/1698 mm and a wheelbase of 3000 mm. Its exterior design features a closed grille, through-type headlights and taillights, and pop-out door handles, which have become increasingly popular among electric vehicles.

Inside the cabin, a large 15.6-inch central control screen integrates various modes, including baby, pet, and karaoke modes. The vehicle offers a range of luxurious and comfortable features, such as zero-gravity seats, seat ventilation, heating, and massage functions. It also includes a 23-speaker Lion Melody Max audio system, a 2.38㎡ sunroof, and a self-developed health monitoring system capable of real-time monitoring of passengers’ heart rate, blood pressure, and other health data.

The Exlantix ET is equipped with dual front and rear electric motors, providing a maximum power output of 183 kW for the front motor and 230 kW for the rear motor. It achieves an impressive acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.46 seconds. The vehicle’s battery pack utilizes CATL’s new LFP 2.0 Shenxing battery, making it the first mass-produced car to adopt this technology. In extreme cold conditions of -20 °C (-4°F) during testing in Inner Mongolia, the car charged from 20% to 80% in just 24 minutes. Under normal conditions at 25°C (77°F), the vehicle can replenish 400 km of range in 10 minutes.

Safety and advanced driving assistance capabilities are also prominent features of the Exlantix ET. It is equipped with 30 sensors and two Orin-X chips from NVIDIA, providing driving assistance for urban and highway scenarios. The vehicle supports features such as high-speed cruising assistance, urban cruising assistance, and a parking asisst function.

The Exlantix ET offers a range of models and pricing options for consumers in China. The pure electric (BEV) series includes the Pro priced at 239,000 yuan (32,900 USD), the Pro four-wheel drive priced at 249,000 yuan (34,300 USD), the Pro City Smart Drive priced at 259,000 yuan (35,700 USD), the Max priced at 289,000 yuan (39,800 USD), and the Ultra priced at 329,000 yuan (45,300 USD). The extended-range electric series includes the Plus, priced at 199,000 yuan (27,000 USD), the Pro, priced at 219,000 yuan (30,200 USD), and the Pro+, priced at 239,000 yuan (32,900 USD).

Chinese EV manufacturer Nio opened blind presales for the 2024 Nio ET7 sedan. Customers can make a reservation for 5,000 yuan (690 USD). The final prices of the new ET7 will be announced at the Beijing Auto Show on April 25. Deliveries are scheduled for April 30.

What’s new about Nio ET7​

The 2024 Nio ET7 got several updates. It features a new silver color and new R21 wheels. Its dimensions remained the same at 5101/1987/1509 mm and a wheelbase of 3060 mm. The main changes of the 2024 ET7 are inside the cabin. The new model has new seats, more soft materials, and two more 14.5-inch OLED 3K additional screens for the second-row passengers.
Another change of the new Nio ET7 is a new acoustic system with a peak power of 2230 W. The multimedia system is powered by the Snapdragon 8295 chip from Qualcomm. The powertrain of the Nio ET7 remained unchanged with dual-motor 4WD. It has three battery options: 75 kWh, 100 kWh, and 150 kWh. The last variant is the semi-solid state battery. It will become available as a service later.

Nio ET7 presales and deliveries​

On April 16, Nio officially announced that the 2024 ET7 sedan is available for order. The Chinese automaker didn’t disclose its price. So, the Nio ET7 is available for blind reservations for 5,000 yuan (690 USD). The prices of the new model will be announced at the Beijing Auto Show on April 25. At the same time, the Nio ET7 will start sales.
According to Nio, the 2024 ET7 will also become available for test drives on April 25. As for the deliveries, they are scheduled for April 30. So, the new variant of the ET7 will officially enter the market this month.
We will remind you that Nio ET7 was launched in late 2021 with a price range of 428,000 – 506,800 yuan (59,100 – 69,900 USD). Its cumulative sales reached 29,815 cars. However, after the sales rush in June 2022, the demand for the Nio ET7 has seemingly fallen. It was caused by the price war in China and the emergence of new cars in the segment.

What do you get when you cross a Tank 500 Hi4-T with a 59.05 kWh battery? A Tank 500 Hi4-Z. OK, not the funniest of jokes but the Tank 500 Hi4-Z is no joke according to the latest round of filings from a government department. It gives the PHEV a battery the size of which would make many pure EVs happy and the car also gains the new Miller cycle engine.

Visually the car is identical on the outside except for the new Hi4-Z badge. Dimensions are 5078, 1934, and 1905 mm (l/w/h) and it has a wheelbase of 2850 mm.
From the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) we can know that the main difference of this five seater is the battery. Whereas the Tank 500 Hi4-T has a 37.1 kWh battery the Tank 500 Hi4-Z bumps that up to 59.05 kWh unit. The battery pack is a ternary lithium (NCM) unit from Great Wall Motor battery spinoff Svolt. With the larger capacity battery all electric range is up from 120 km to 201 km. Weight however is now 2980 kg up from 2830 kg.

GWM’s Tank 500 Hi4-Z uses the new Miller cycle E20NB engine, as recently debuted in the 2024 update to the Tank 500 Hi4-T. Although this increases the efficiency of the engine the maximum power of 185 kW and peak torque of 380 Nm are same as before with the E20NA version of the engine. The main benefit is the reduction in fuel consumption which in the Tanks 500 Hi4-Z is reduced even further, down from 8.8 l/100 km in the Hi4-T to 8.6 l/100 km.
Options for the car
An electric motor powers the front wheels producing 120 kW power and 400 Nm torque. When combined with the petrol engine the system power is 300 kW and combined torque is 750 Nm. Top speed is 205 km/h significantly up on the Hi4-T’s 180 km/h.
Autohome speculates that the HI4-Z will have more aggressive all-wheel drive performance. The car will presumably have the new intelligent four-wheel drive system introduced by the 2024 Tank Hi4-T.

From the filling pictures we can see there is an option for a towing hook.

Editor’s note:​

One problem with the Tank 500 Hi4-T is that the battery is directly under the trunk floor meaning that the floor is much higher than in the ICE version of the Tank 500. Presumably the battery of the Tank 500 Hi4-Z will take up an even larger volume making this even more of a problem.

The Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) exposed the specs of the Stellantis-baked Leapmotor C16 SUV as it applied for the sales license. It is a mid-to-large SUV with BEV and EREV powertrain variants. Inside, the Leapmotor C16 has six seats. It will become a rival of the Aito M7. Later, the C16 can enter the global market.

Leapmotor is a new energy Chinese brand founded in 2015. Last year, it signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Stellantis, the fourth-biggest world automaker. They have created a joint venture called Leapmotor International. It was previously reported that Leapmotor will enter Poland and Malaysia. Its current model line comprises four vehicles: C10 and C11 SUVs, C01 sedan, and T03 hatchback. Soon, Leapmotor will launch the fifth model, the C16 flagship crossover.

More about the Leapmotor C16​

The Leapmotor C16 stands on the Leap 3.0 architecture and follows the brand’s latest design language. It has a closed front end with distinguishing headlights, retractable door handles, and a single taillight unit. The Leapmotor C16 boasts hefty dimensions of 4915/1905/1770 mm. Its wheelbase reaches 2825 mm. it is 5 mm longer than the wheelbase of the Aito M7 from Huawei and Seres. Its overhangs are 947/1143 mm. Approach and departure angles are 19 and 21 degrees, respectively.


The Leapmotor C16 has R20 and R21 wheel options. Inside, it has 6 seats with a 2 + 2 + 2 layout. Depending on the powertrain, the C16’s curb weight is 2065 – 2095 kg. Its front and rear tracks are both 1625 mm.
As mentioned, the Leapmotor C16’s powertrain has BEV and EREV variants. The first one has a single synchronous permanent magnet electric motor (TZ220XY008). Its peak power reaches 215 kW (288 hp). With this e-motor on board, the Leapmotor C16 can speed up to 160 km/h. The EREV variant has a 1.5-liter H15R self-aspirated ICE for 70 kW under the hood. It acts as a generator. It also has a single e-motor for 170 kW (228 hp).
The EREV variant of the Leapmotor C16 has a 28.4-kWh LFP battery from CALB. It can drive up to 134 km on a single charge. The battery capacity of the EV variant has yet to be revealed. But we do know it has an LFP battery from Zenergy.

The Leapmotor C16 will make its official debut at the Beijing Auto Show on April 25. It will rival the Aito M7 in the Chinese market. Later, it can also enter overseas markets.
