It took three years for J-20 to remove pitot tube, but only a year for both six gen project, impressive.

Most of the avionics like AESA, EOTS, HMD have been mastered. The pace is much faster.

China can fast track and induction J36 and then slowly upgrade them like they done with J10A J10B J10C where it reached world class level. But China has no need to do this, by 2033 2035 J36 will be cutting edge, with next generation engine, avionics, missiles etc. J20 and J35s are more than enough till 2035s.

J-20 first flight 2011, production 2017. 6 years. J-36 is going twice the speed. First flight 2024, production 2028. 4 years.

J-20 had 8 prototypes for its development and J-36 has only 2 protypes so far and will have totally different aerodynamics/ avionics/radars from J-20, Its take time at least 5-9 years for maturing its aerodynamics/avionics/radars

PLA was not interested, as soon as PLA PLAN got interested within a few years the plane was in full development/testing mode.

J-35 is not a priority. It's only used by Chinese navy.

Navy had to be prioritize especially when 4th and 5th aircraft.carrier is going to be completed soon. They will need J35 in around 100 of them to be placed on all the five carriers

China developed the J20 and all concentration were on that plane, now China is building aircraft carriers and 2 versions of J35 is in production, one for airforce which will be exported aswell and another one for navy which will be used on the aircraft carriers. By the time aircraft are ready, J35s will also be inducted. 2030 is the timeline since its all next generation systems, will need many years to fully operationalise them and develop tactics.
