Chinese 6th Generation Aircraft News & Discussions

Wow!

Looks like China may be trying to get the plane into service before 2030 in this case and potentially beating US.

Not sure if the engine can be readied in time and the “adaptive cycle” engine is so different than engines like WS-15 but let us wait and see.
I believed both are tech demonstrators at this stage and it's gonna be step one and step two just like WS-10 to WS-15 on J20.
There is one thing that is for sure, we are already at the frontline this time, we are no longer a follower of US standard, so no one knows what is behind the curtain this time.

2 years ago at an engine development conference, said NG (adaptive cycle) is at the same stage as WS19 (intended for J35), which is "material selection" of pre mass production.

Calm down, that is too much, 2035 onward.

He is the chief of the materials engineers, so he is telling the story from his position.

I think we need @Michael and @iblini for help to explain?!
Analyzing from historical experience, the Chinese military industrial complex and PLA, are completely unaffected by the public opinion of Chinese military fans, 99.99% of them do not use social media at all. Their weaponry development programs are completely in line with the established strategy. Therefore, no matter how much we call and argue, they will not “care” about us.

In China, being an experienced military fan with real capabilities is a “highly dangerous” profession. Unless authorized/acquiesced by the MIC or PLA, they dare not tell any real news.

The vast majority of military bloggers on Weibo rely on fan traffic to make a living, and the vast majority of their analytical news comes from speculation, with very little credibility. We can use their photos and screenshots, but we should not adopt their analysis.
Only a very few military bloggers are people with real competence, but they are very cautious and cryptic in their statements. It's very difficult for Chinese people to read them, and even more so for foreigners.
I take their analytical views with a grain of salt. For the most part, I don't take their views on board.

In the shorter term future, I think it's possible for official agencies to release some news of prospective research experiments, but the likelihood of an official announcement of a 6th Gen fighter is very, very small.

Is it also likely that Chinese companies would wait for America to reveal its NGAD (most likely the USN NGAD) before it adjusts its own design to best deal with the American design and then reveal the Chinese designs a couple of years later?

In the field of 6th Gen fighters, China is already ahead of the US. So, he can't adjust his program to the US NGAD.
China's military equipment development has consistently adhered to a low-profile strategy, which is the exact opposite of the US strategy.

My personal opinion:
China's research on the 6th Gen fighter is basically nearing its end. But we have no way of knowing when they will make an official announcement or “official leak”. It depends on what the military thinks is the right time.
As for dealing with the US NGAD, I think by the time the US officially announces the NGAD, the Chinese 6th Gen fighter will have already begun its upgrade iterations. They will consider adding factors to counter the US NGAD at that time.

Dosent sound unreasonable knowing J-20 has been in service already for quite a while and 6th gen research began already mid 2010s.

I could see 2030 as a official in service date

As US-Sino relation getting more and more intense, we can't afford to be left behind again, at least keeping a generation ahead compared with our neighbour countries like India.

How do you know?

About China's forward-thinking military technology. Those who know the details can't talk about it, and those who don't know the details feel free to talk nonsense.
That's all!
