Chinese 6th Generation Aircraft News & Discussions

The one in Chengdu is said to have a tonnage of 50+ when fully loaded, while the one in Shenyang is obviously smaller. I prefer that these two models complement each other.this SAC design is more agile, may very well be better suited for carrier operation.
well, according to grass root, there is no duel, they are both sixth gen program and complement each other, SAC version does have carrier version and airforce version.
That is a very very good news, we don't have to choose, we will have all of them.

Could it be designated j-36?

The aircraft number of Chengdu's sixth-generation prototype aircraft that made its first flight was "3601," and the accompanying J-20S was "2035."
We are also curious about the pod that appears to be for data collection or photography on the J-20S, but if we think about it simply, the next-generation prototype is called 3601, which means that the official name is planned to be J-36.
For the time being, this account will be temporarily named J-36 until new information is confirmed.

Looks China has beaten the USA in flying two 6th Gen planes, and gone into the history books with its achievements.

NGAD is having cost overrun and design issues with the airforce and navy now pursuing different programmes. The Americans may catch up once they have resolved their technology issues and also show off a prototype for its testing programme,

NGAD also may have flown as early as 2018.

Yep, and Chinas engine technology is still trash

And the US was flying tailless aircraft…almost 30 years ago.

There’s really nothing novel about this design and the fact it needs 3 engines indicates major turbine issues. High maintenance, high costs, reduced payload etc

“The B-21, in my opinion, is the most exquisite weapons system ever built by human hands… it will provide our nation, the Department of Defense, and combatant commanders the ability to negotiate from a position of strength.”

The aircraft is still undergoing flight testing. When asked when the aircraft will be deployed, Bussiere offered a one-word response: “Soon.”

I’ll take USAF Generals assessment over yours

Three engines absolutely indicates engine turbine issues. Higher costs, higher maintenance, reduced payloads.

China is likely many years behind US state of the art three stream adaptive cycle engines which will almost certainly be on NGAD aircraft.

Dear I sincerely advise you to stop behaving like Indians. This is a Chinese 6th Gen thread, and everyone here is interested in learning more about Chinese 6th Gen aircraft. Please post NGAD information in the appropriate NGAD thread. If an NGAD thread doesn't exist, you can create a separate one. You can also create a thread for comparing different 6th Gen jets. However, please avoid bringing off-topic discussions here, even if you feel someone is trying to dragging the conversation in that direction.

There are indeed reports about a third type of- and NOT the H-20 - but a stealthy regional bomber described as a FB-22/Tu-22M hybrid
If this is true, then it's absolutely insane.

It means that China, atleast outwardly in public, is outpacing the US in terms of next gen development.

We all already knew that once 6th gen is under development, everyone would be on their own, and no amount of "espionage" would help develop things along, as there's nothing worth stealing.

In that case, China could be on pace to not just match, but exceed the US in terms of developing and adopting next gen fighter technology.

Would I be right in that assessment?

To be clear, that doesn't necessarily mean that Chinese tech is automatically better than the US, but rather they're the first fly and potentially the first to induct the gen type, so they get to define the class's basic characteristics.

He's not a Russian puppet, he's generally pro-Ukrainian and while he's been wrong plenty of times, he's also very knowledgeable.

I dont pay attention to his verses series, but his analysis of military assets of various nations (including this 6th gen) tends to be very accurate.
I meant like physically a puppet. He points out things I haven’t caught onto or thought about just yet.

Ah, lmao.

I sometimes forget that the puppet is technically the host of the show and not the voice over.

Really interested to see the top part of the aircraft as a birdseye view, so far thats the only missing view.

Really? This is a demonstrator US 6th gen prototypes flew 2018-2020 a source was already posted. Do try to catch up before looking ignant.

Someone please correct me, I think I read a post, few years ago by Yang Wei (if I recall correctly) based on his interview. In this interview, he discussed the concept of an 'aircraft family' for the Next Generation Fighter. If this is the case, we might see several different 6th-generation aircraft designed for specific roles, rather than just two or three types.

@Michael @Deino Do you guys remember or have any information about this or something similar?

What I found so far is this:

In an interview with China Daily, Yang Wei, the chief designer of the J-20, stated that designers will develop variants of the radar-evading J-20 and will open research on its successor – a sixth-generation fighter jet.

He specifically said:
  • "We are not complacent about what we have achieved. We will develop the J-20 into a large family and keep strengthening its information-processing and intelligent capacities."
This indicates a future where the J-20 might evolve into a family of aircraft, potentially optimized for different roles such as air superiority, strike, electronic warfare, or even unmanned operations.

The ignorance and misinformation around US NGAD programs is pretty incredible. I guarantee you the engineers at Lockheed Skunk Works are having a laugh today.
