The Kaan also looks somewhat similar and one could say the F-35 borrows the planform of the F-22.

The Weapons bay of the F-35 is designed such that it can carry a 2000 lb bomb internally, whereas it seem the J-35 cannot( would love to see information to suggest otherwise). So when you are suggesting a comparison, you have to compare the capability of the two platforms.

I will be heart broken if SU 57 turns out to be superior to J35 .

The Russian fighter is still the best in old techs -- engine power and thus maneuverability. But why do think Americans went for the F35 and Chinese the J35A? They represent the new techs in stealthy designs, radar, sensors, and missiles.
